R/C vehicles are a favorite of both children and adults. From the days of wire-attached, only-right-turning sports cars, to the here-and-now of sophisticated maneuvering machinery, radio controlled devices have captured our imaginations for decades.
If you’d like to showcase your talent for flying, or just come out and watch an incredible show, the 41st Annual WRAM Show is taking place February 20-22, 2009, at Westchester Country Center, White Plains, New York.
For the crowd showing up to take part in the festivities and watch the events, admissions are $12.00 for adults, $3.00 for children over 6, and any child under 6 receives free admission.
On Sunday, all children 12 and under are admitted free. For modelers setting up to showcase their merchandise, booth fees are $525.00.
WRAM is one of the country’s biggest trade shows. All three floors of the Westchester Country Center are packed full of R/C planes, trains, and other various automobiles.
Over 150 manufactures and organizations showcase their hottest products at WRAM, and the R/C enthusiasts are drawn to this spectacle like a magnet. Various modelers arrive to test their skills in a static competition.
The competition offers a beautiful display of various models.
Among the models that compete for prizes, there are Airplanes: WWI, Golden Age, Civilian, Helicopter, Self-Designed, Stand-Off Scale, Old-Timer, Pattern, Electric Scale, Sport, Glider, Post WWI Military; Boats: Scale Military, Racing, Scale Non-Military; Cars: Smaller than 1/4 Scale, 1/4 Scale or Larger.
Overall Best in Show is offering a top prize of $1000. Best in each respective category earns the winner $500. Best in respective class earns $150, with trophies handing out for 2nd and 3rd in Class. The 16 and under Junior Competition is giving $150 for top prize, and trophies for 2nd to 6th place finishes.
Exhibitors and modelers flood the gates from all over the country, each trying to show the crowd what their models are capable of. WRAM showcases the latest in engines, kits, radio systems, plans, accessories, motors, and other R/C related hardware.
Whether you’re an old pro or an excited newbie, you’ll be taken aback by the show.
Other attractions of the show include a Swap Shop where modelers bring spare equipment to sell or trade; and Seminars via the WRAM Flyer Program. The Howard Mc Entee Memorial Reward is also handed out in recognition of contributors and great innovators of the R/C field.
