Jack is at it again with another scale rc heli project. Jack converts a Century Falcon SE 50 Nitro heli into a 5 bladed beastie that resembles Hughes 500MD and gives it electric power to boot. In this part you will see Jack in the process of converting the 3D Nitro flybar heli into a 5 blade electric model.
This tutorial is about using the rc heli controllers in general. It is conducted using Spektrum 6i, which is a bit more basic than most controls. If you feel intimidated by all the little switches, knobs and buttons that you see on the rc heli controller for the first time, no need to worry. The most used components of the controller are the sticks that control the aileron, elevator, rudder and throttle.
Some people think that balancing an rc heli is a matter of adding trims all over the place, but this is usually not the case. Usually balancing an rc heli involves more than just trimming. Essentially you have to make sure that the swash plate is as parallel to the ground as possible and that the placement of the batteries is deliberate for your purposes.
Review of mCP x stock and modified versions. The inside of the mCp x is extremely crowded, it uses the fly bar less system. The blades on the stock model have couple of bolts that give it more stability in the wind. The brushed motor is powerful enough for some light 3D, hovering, but nothing too crazy.
This tool will save you a decent amount of time when trying to level your swash plate on any type of rc helicopter. You don’t have to take off the whole head when using this tool, which results in time savings. The clear plate tool snaps onto the rod just underneath the swash plate and is then pushed up. And the title doesn’t have a typo, in case you’re wondering.
Paul Bryant shows and explains how to make a vacuum mold tool, for stamping any canopy that you may want to create. The construction of the tool involves a few picture frames, vacuum, glass sheet, some screws, glue gun and your desired matrix or reproducible mold.
This newcomer to the scene of rc heli flying was having a difficult time adjusting the trim on his E-Flite CX2 controller so he had to do some extensive research to find out the solution. In other words his rc heli could not be held in the hover mode over the ground; it would go down. Long story short, the problem was due to the uneven swash plate.
