Head Speed HI, I have just finished putting together a new Shogun together and am wondering what sort of headspeeds I should be trying to achive for the hover / flight 1 aned flight 2 settings. I have gone for the brushless motor option and am looking forward to some test flights. Tim

Colorado and Shogun Changing subject. If you live in Colorado the original power plant for Shogun ( Speed 380) will just not cut it at this altitude.. Go brushless or otherwise you never get of the ground, Very dissipointing for this outstanding machine. Wish I had purchased TREX 450 or something else with more power. Live and learn. Happy flying George

| Re: Head Speed Hi George, Thanks for the mesage. I don't live any where near Colorado but that is an interesting point I had not thought about. My set up does have a brushless motor so even if I gat the chance to visit you I hight be able to fly I have done some more research and have found figures that range from 1900 to 2800 rpm so I will play with these and see how I get on. | Re: Head Speed Hi Tim Thank you for prompt replay. I have changed my power plant to stronger brushless ( not the one that was designed for Shogun ) because I need more lifting power to use COOPOLOT with my heli. Hope it will work. I had many problems with Shogun setup, had to move gyro several times to different location . this took my a while to find, just general mess, I am considering Century Swift 16. biger and stronger. Best George |

Re: Head Speed I JUST got my Shogun flying today, it also has the recomended brushless setup. We got the thing to hover VERY happy at around 1650 to 1700 RPM. This was with the motor at about 60% power, full throttle and the blades are WHIZZING! For me, learing basic maneuvers, there was no need to crank things up yet (Plus it's Much more intimidating!) so 1650 had it hovering much more quietly but still with good authority. I'm a total Newb, so I'm not sure if these numbers are the best or not, but my buddy helping me is VERY proficient (Steve cole at Awesome Hobbies 707-433-4888) and has me under his wing. He's a great guy to get stuff from, very knowledgeable especially with the nitro Raptor series helis.

Re: Head Speed After fine tuning we raised the head speed up to around 1900 to 2000. It had more tail authority, we did this by raising the throttle to 70%, right now I am not using a V-curve, just a ramp up to 70 and then straight across, after I get proficient at flying we are going back in and setting my stunt 1 and stunt 2 modes with V-curves, all curves in all modes are the same right now.,
