| Getting Started Problem Hi, I'm brand new to this forum so any help you might be able to provide would be appreciated. I recently bought a Walkera 4-3B and when I took it out of the box and charged the battery etc. I connected everything up but I am having a problem and I don't know if it is something I am doing or if it is the model that is faulty. When the pairing is complete I seem to have control over rudder and aileron but no throttle control. ie. the main rotor will not spin up. I've tried it a couple of times but no luck. Am I doing something wrong? As I said I have just taken it out of the box. Does it need some setting up? As I said, any help would be welcomed. Cheers, Paul |

| Re: Getting Started Problem Hi there, welcome to the forum ![]() Ok, if you are learning and have just got a small electric heli then there are a few points. there might be a 'throttle hold' switch on the radio...this should be 'off' and there might also be a switch called 'idle up' which is for altering the settings related to the motor power curve...its for upside down flying and so on...'3D' flight as its sometimes called. Idle up should be set to 'Normal' or Norm...if there is any such label on the radio. Golden rule: ALWAYS switch the radio on FIRST and switch off LAST....so switch the radio on, making sure the switches mentioned and in thier correct positions..THEN connect the heli battery....at the end of the session dissconnect the heli battery and then you can switch the radio off. Cheaper end helis are not so forgiving if you get it wrong...a heli thats connected up with its radio off can suddenly start up and get trashed very quickly...worse still it can fly up and into your face...or someone elses...so be aware. The higher end helis with better ESC's (speed control thingy) detect this mistake and usually stay off...but its better not to test that ![]() I am not familiar with your model so cant advise that much...you said 'pairing' I take it this means a 2.4ghz radio system? | Re: Getting Started Problem Thanks for the reply Rob. Unfortunately the problem is not as simple as Throttle Hold or Idle Up being in the wrong position. The transmitter does not have either of those switches. It is a 2.4ghz system and I'm leaning towards some sort of problem on the throttle side of the transmitter. At one stage when I pushed the throttle lever forwards quickly, the tail rotor spun up but the main rotor stayed static. Another couple of time when I set the throttle trim down to the lowest setting and power everything up, the aileron and elevator servos wwent into some kind of "spasm" and started to do their own thing without any input. Wierd! Anyway still no joy getting this thing fllying so any further suggestions would be much appreciated. Paul |

| Re: Getting Started Problem Just a quick update. I now have the helicopter operating. I don't know how or what I did I basically just fiddled with it until I got the main rotor to spin. I've now tightened up everything and checked all of the linkages so I guess its time to learn to fly. Wish me luck!! Paul |

| Re: Getting Started Problem I had exactly the same problem... make sure the trim on the throttle is all the way to the bottom of the receiver before starting the pairing. that solved the problem for me. |
