Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

I'm going to fly my 36 today even if it means crashing in the wind! At least i'll have something to post on the forum.
I am tired of working on it and then letting it sit on the bench waiting for the wind to die down.

Let's get the season started!

Good for you should have no real problem - when set up correctly its a stable bird for 400 Class just make sure you have a couple of deg neg pitch to get it down if you get excessive wind lift

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

The problem that I have is it want's to "Pogo" up and down in the wind. Where I have to fly the wind rolls over a building and does strange things to my flying. It will force the heli 30 to 50 feet down suddenly and if I'm higher than that it will go up so it's almost impossible to maintain an altitude.
I flew it this afternoon and had the same problem again, even in idleup, but I got to fly anyway. I think that I will try different blades than the woodies as it was better with the "industructable" plastic ones.

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

Yes it is a problem with all heli's but the smaller the worse it is - A rotor is a rotating wing - the more airspeed over the wing the more lift - and wind is increased airspeed - so there is no way round the problem - but the plastic blades may help.

The more you get used to it the easier you will find it - just make sure tou have adiquate negative pitch to help compensate and pull the heli down.

Happy Flying......David

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

I hate to admit it but my comet doesn't do this nearly as bad. It is slightly heavier but not that much bigger. Eccpm must help too.

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

Size and weight make a lot of difference - I like 400 class because its small enough to fly in a hall but also outside in reasonable conditions - but if you want any real stability outside your really looking 500 class and above.

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

I've been working all weekend on the GMP Cobra 50. That thing should fly in a hurricane! It weights almost eight pounds and is like working on a car. I got to fly a 30 nitro the other day and that thing spoiled me.LOL
The first flight pucker factor will be very high though!

Yes I noticed the 50 on your list - Just a little bit different from your walkera 400 heli's LOL

But wether your flying large nitro's down to sub micro's they are all fun in there own way.

Happy flying......David
