Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

I don't get why they do that. If you look at the dimensions of today's most popular battery's they are all vary similar in size. So why not design the frame to except those packs? Back in the days when the Shogun was the hot ticket Walkera had the original 35 that was basically a clone. I never had any trouble fitting what ever pack I wanted in them. Then they introduced the 36. Supposedly an updated version of the 35 with a belt drive instead of the shaft. But that's when the frames narrowed and the battery tray got shorter with no room under the canopy for an extension plate. So that now all you can fit is those cheep economy packs that come with the kits. That's were I have a real problem. I will not use those low quality packs in my heli's. I feel they are dangerous and don't deliver the performance plus you only get 25 - 30 cycles out of them before they are trash.
I have in the past strapped a battery under the frame between the skids on my 36. But that's not something I like doing. I can get a TP 1320 in there with the canopy on but I have to put it on edge with some foam on ether side to keep it from sliding side to side. Its just plane frustrating.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

I stand my batteries on edge and they just slip under the servos and go all of the way to the motor. This is why I prefer the 430L type motor (outrunner in a can) and with the canopy mount moved to just behind the servos I can run the stock canopy on the 36 and I have one rubber band holding the battery. I did the same thing on the 37 but I added a frame extension to support the battery more and to add weight to help balance the XL tail.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting the spektrum dx6 for my walkera 36. I like to know if anyone out there is using this TX/RX. And if it a good investment for the long run. I see that it can hold up to 10 model. Just to see what others are saying about it

I would say that the Spectrum is a very good setup just from what others say and the only reason to need more than six channels is if you get into nitro helis and need another channel for a govener. And possibly if you get into scale stuff that has alot of extra functions.

Hi BH,

I got the spectrum dx6 tonight from a LHS. Once I read the manual and get it setup with my Walkera 36. Let you know how I like it. I'm going to see if finless Bob have any videos on helifreak on setup. I was going to get HDX610 from helidirect. If you can help Please, thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure but I don't think that you can use the HDX610 with the Spectrum. I use one with my Futaba but the Spectrum takes special Rxs, 2.4gz right?

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

I'm sorry BH. I got the Rx with the spectrum system. What I was trying to said is that I was going to get the hdx610 for my walkera stock Tx. There was a post rcuniverse.com you wrote. that hdx610 work work walkera tx with berg crystals.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Oh yeah, That's right, It will work with the Walkera Tx. It worked better than the stock Rx and I'm still using it on my 36 with a Futaba Tx and it has full range with no glitches and is much lighter than the Futaba Rx that came with the Tx.
I really like my Futaba but if I were starting over I would get a Spectrum even though the Rxs are little expensive.
