Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Ok it sounds like you have a set of the "industructble" plastic blades. They are supposed to have stickers over the holes and are about 290mm long.
They are very near industructable and I use them to setup Helis as you can
touch the ground or trees or damned near anything without destroying them.
They are kind of heavy but that makes them auto like crazy.
You can run the stock 288mm or 315s on your 37 and you can use 325s if you install the XL tail but be warned that the longer blades make the Heli more responsive.
Your motor should handle anything you hang on there but 12 degrees of pitch may be too much for another reason. I just read that when you apply cyclic control you are adding as much as 6 degrees of pitch to the one side of the rotor so if you are already at 10 or12 degrees of pitch you could have 18 degrees on one side and that is approching stall angle for the blades. The article goes on to recomend no more than 9 degrees of pitch.
I haven't tried this out yet but it sounds logical.

PS Wood blades are a good compromise between price and performance.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hey Huey
I can see the logic behind that. I'll bet they are talking about setting up for some serous hard core 3D. How often do you find your self applying 100% throttle and 100% elevator or aileron at the same time. Unless your a 3D pro your probably going to be drilling holes anyway if you find your self in a position that you need to do that.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

I don't know because the author of the article stated that he has seen this cause newbies problems even when making simple turns and stall turns so I don't know how soon this problem develops.
It is something to investigate when your out flying. Maybe it improves control?
All that I know for sure is that I might be able to see this with the 37 but my 36's head is so worn that I can barely track the blades!LOL Time for an overhaul!

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hmm........ this is a vary interesting topic. Where did you find the article? I fly all my heli's with a max pitch of around +10 to 12. Now you've got me questioning my setup. I usually fly in the 1/2 to just a bit over 3/4 stick range. The extra pullout power of a + 12 at full stick has saved my a** on a few occasions. But its always wit vary little cyclic input when I've needed it.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Great info guys! So I sould keep the indistructable blades to set up and begin flight? I assume the three pitch measurement are without blade rotation and test at low mid and high points of the throttle input and e/a input? Motor/esc and radio package should be hear tomorrow!!! Battery probably Th or Friday! Sucks I have those two new 1250 3S 10C! What the heck runs off that sort of battery anyway? I think my rock crawlers and street car are both to much for these, 1/18th maybe? I'll try to sell on ebay as they are only a month old and unused. Sell both and buy another bigger one! Cool, thanks again pilots!!!! Oh, downloaded TREX 450 V2 for G3.5 sim, super quick input response on sim!

I know what you mean about saving the tail with the extra power but I found this article in Rotary Modeler and have been wondering ever since.

Like I said, I use those blades for setup until I am comfortable with the gyro and control setup.
On the batteries, You could use a parallel hookup to get enough amps but you are better to sell them and get bigger ones. Also you should be able to add some exponential to the controls of your Trex on the SIM.
