Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hey Huey
What Futaba are you using?
I've been flying with a 7C for a couple years and absolutely love it.

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Right now I am just have the Walkera that comes with the heli, popular opinion is junk! From ditching the electrics with RTF truggies and trucks I know there's a huge difference. I run a synthesized Airtronics for my land dwelling vehicles so I am really interested in the Futaba 6EX FASST? or the Spektrum, I'm not sure!

Baby Huey, I found the seller and will be definately upgrading the motor/esc. What servos are affordable but reliabe for the 37. There is no way I'm going to be able to trim this bird out once I swap the electrics is there? Especially without prior CCPM experience. Over my head, sure, oh well the fun is in learing and building as well!

Thanks guys, keep it coming...I'd rather spend wisely now than upgrade later as you said!

The radio system you choose is probably the most important investment your going to make. If you buy the best you can afford based on where you intend to be in 3 years you'll actually be saving your self some money. Its better to grow into a system than constantly upgrade to something that suits your needs at the moment.
There's nothing wrong with the ones your talking about now. There all good radio's . But at least take this in to consideration before you make your choice.
I personally prefer Futaba. Its just a little bit more user friendly. But that's just my opinion.
First I would like to say, Very, Very good advise on the radios.
Second, I have the 6xhs super. It is the model that came before the 6exh and as you just said I now kinda wish that it was a seven channel as I'm starting to get into nitro helis and the extra channel comes in handy for a goverener.
Also the bigger Rx have more throttle/ pitch curve options.
O well maybe a 9chp someday

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hey dmb5656
I also run the ground with a Savage 4.6. What ground dwellers do you run?

On all my Walkera's I run HiTec HS-55's on the head and HS-56HB's on the tail whith an Electron 6 RX's on a Futaba 7 CHP. This is a time tested and well proven combo for size Heli . Economy and performance.
I'm running all HiTec HS-65MG's on my Mini-T with a CC BERG 7 and the same Futaba TX.

Huey
I hear you. I would love to get my hands on a 9C. But I think I'll wait till they up the watts on the 2.4 systems for some better range capabilities before I take that leap. I'm really interested in getting into turbine heli's. I know that's a long shot. I think there's only 6 people in the US certified to fly them right now. But wouldn't it be cool to get that certification?
Hay we all need something to aspire to Right????

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

Hey Danimal,

I also run a Savage that I built....mid tank mod, battery relocation, relocation of stearing and throttle servo. It has a Force .32 in it right now which rips. I also have a Mugen MBX5T that I run a Picco .27 in. 2 rock crawlers and a losi xxx street car. Think that's it. All of that seems like pre-school compared to trying to get my arms around this flying gig! Hopefully I get this baby in the air. I've been working over the Realflight 3.5 which is just a sim but at least familiarizes me with the inputs. Is it better to buy a TX/RX servo package like the Spektrum DX6 or go seperates with all....now super confused! I like the spektrum package and simplicity? Thanks guys! Just got two new 3S 15C 1250 mah batts and trying to figure out if they'll power this bird or if I pulled the trigger prematurely? Need a motor/esc combo that will work with those cells I guess? Thanks again!

Micah

Re: 2 Quick Qustions for the 37?

I use a Futaba T7CP radio...easy to program. Just a great radio.

I would urge you to get 2.4 ghz...FM is ok but its not as secure and is prone to problem with electric helis...the ESC/Motor dish out all sorts of pulses which can lock the radio system up...I fly a Trex 450 which 'dies' in flight from time to time.

The T7CP type radio is out in 2.4ghz in the USA now. I am waiting till it reaches the UK...as its easier to shop there from where I live.

Like Danimal said...a radio system is the most important single purchase you will make....so spend wisely.

I dont have an issue with Walkera type helis...if the mechanics are ok and you dont mind upgrading things then you will go far with a good radio..oh...and a good gyro too..check out the GY401 gyro...its good.

The main thing to remember with this Heli or any other ECCPM Heli is that the servos are directly linked to the head so the servo gears are stressed much more in flight and in crashes so carbonite or metal gear servos are the way to go if you want reliability.
I'm sorry to say that your batteries are marginal for most upgrade motors in this size Heli because they usually start at about 20 amps.

Have to go, will get back to you later.

Heli here,radio and motor/esc ordered!

Hey guys,

I got the heli, it looks great and heavy duty with all the aluminum. I noticed that the upgraded alum head has the flybar under the main blades where as the stock set up had the flybar above the main set? Is there a huge difference? I'll post somes pics because I'm going to have no idea how to tune it. The tail rudder mod has been done along with an almum tail assmbly but I will be upgrading the servo. I also decided on the spektrum 2.4. I was able to get a brand new tx/rx and 4 servos for $160. Good deal? Aslo, Baby huey I took your advise and got that motor and esc upgrade like $30. The heli has the upgraded brushless 3200 purple walkera motor and a 30 amp esc but the seller said one of them didn't work? I would assume the esc but I'll have to check both. Is that motor any good? How can I test each seperately? Oh, the gyro's are both the g0006 walkera's...are these ok for now? alot of questions, sorry, excited and overwhelmed all at once.

Thanks!
