Dragonfly 36

I have a walkera dragonfly 36 and I have upgrade the motor to a jgf motor, castlerock speed control and I have put in a different pinion gear to get some more RPM, but now my tail is unable to prevent spinning. Is there something that I need to do to get that to get some more push?

thanks

Re: Dragonfly 36

Oh well, Here we go again!

Hello Nathan,
You don't say weather or not your Heli flew before the new motor was added but you need to check to see if your belt is slipping. The 36 has a small gear that drives the belt and it is located in the rear of the frame just in front of the boom. This gear is driven by a tiny pin and is probably stripped.
To check this hold the head from turning and then try to turn the tail rotor. If you can feel it slip you need to glue the small pulley to the small gear under it.
Also make sure that your blades are in track and that the gyro is operating in the correct direction.

Re: Dragonfly 36

I dont think that is the problem. If i do that I can feel the gear pop, like it stips a tooth. As far as I know the gyro works I have 2 and it doesn' matter which one I use. It didnt have enough lift when i got it, so i just went straight to that with the info that i got off this fourm. Is there any other idea's

Re: Dragonfly 36

Can you hold the tail from spinning with the rudder? If not you may not have enough rpm on the tail so increase the head speed if you can.
As long as your controls are working correctly the tail authority is directly connected to the head speed.

Re: Dragonfly 36

you want me to adjust the tail rotor head speed or the Main rotor head speed. Is that one of the knobs on the remote. I think one is pitch is the other one head speed? if not how do I go about increaseing head speed

thank

Re: Dragonfly 36

You have to increase the main rotor speed by decreasing the pitch. You can use the knobs on the Tx for this and how you do that depends on which radio you have, The six or seven channel. Check the instructions to see which dip switch unlocks the pitch controls.
After you unlock the pitch start with both knobs at the twelve o'clock position then you can turn them up if the headspeed is too high or if you can't get enough lift. Also when you increase the head speed the tail may wag. If it does reduce the gyro sensitivity until it just stops wagging.
Simple huh?

Re: Dragonfly 36

Just rebuilt my 36 with the Walkera alloy head and fiberglass blades and am not impressed. The plastic head with plastic blades had more lift and more response although I'm pretty sure that this is caused by the blades as I tried them before and found about the same thing.
Any suggestions on where to get cf blades?
