Raptor G2 Vs. Esky Belt CP.....

Which one is better and why? This is going to be my first RC heli, but I have raced RC cars and flown airplanes extensively in the past. I actually used to be sponsored by Team losi and Team Schumacher but that was yester year.
I hear that the Walkera 36 and the Raptor G2 have junky electronics and are prone to failure, Is this true? I want a heli that is relatively inexpensive, but dont want a peice of junk. I want a heli can hove smooth and perform well while being at least semi reliable. Not to mention I dont like the idea of having the heli wig out with glitching and potentially hurt someone. I know FM receivers are the way to go as they have always been, but how reliably can you fly one of these "RTF" units with the equipment they come with.
Which heli is the best for under $300 that I can buy. I really liked the looks and belt drive of the Raptor G2 which is what lead me in its direction, but now I am reluctant because I have read bad writeups. I have read good ones as well, but we all know how negative information goes.

Re: Raptor G2 Vs. Esky Belt CP.....

Hello,
I have a couple of Walkera 36s and they are the same thing as the G2 except for the color. I like the 36 but I wouldn't buy one over the Esky. The Belt cp is a more capable bird and is made better, not alot better, but better as the Walkera electronics are pretty much junk period.
Another Heli that is better is the Honey bee King.
The problem with RTF units is that the radio equipment is not as good as Futaba or JR or any of the big name stuff so you take a chance with any of them.

Hope this helps,
Huey

Thanks.

So what would I be looking at price wise if I were to build a ESKY CP with decent electonics?

You can get a Futaba 6EXH for about 170 dollars and it comes with a receiver and three servos. Then you need a good gyro and tail servo. That will cost maybe another one hundred or so depending on how far you want to take this hobby. Gyros run the gamut in price and that is the one thing that Walkera has is a decent gyro but the best ones cost around 140 (Futaba 401) but you can get a telebee heading hold for 50.
I have a Futaba 6 Channel computer radio that I bought off of Ebay for 60 dollars so if you shop around you can save money.
It all depends on if you want first rate equipment to start off with or if you want something just good enough to see if Helis are for you.
Huey
PS Hobby Lobby has the Falcon 3D RTF for around 200 that is supposed to be pretty good as is. See if you can contact Hawkman on this forum as he has one.

Thanks Man you have been a big help. I really think this is just something I plan on doing when I have some free time. Maybe at most an hour or 2 on the weekend. I don't want to spend unnecessary money, but at the same time I don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish.

Well I have one more question that I hope you guys can answer.

I have narrowed it down to 2 helis, either the Falcon 3D or the ESKY belt CP. Which would you recommend and why?

I'm going to leave that to others as I don't have personal experiance with either.
Good luck with your choice!

I made my decision on the Falcon 3D SE. It seemed like the best option. I got it for $360 shipped. It comes with all the aluminum upgrade parts, Carbon fiber blades and canopy, crash gear, and flight SIM. This is everything I need with the exception of an additional battery pack.
