Question Next logical step

I have a Hirobo lama silver. I have reached my limit with what I can do with the thing. (Am breaking blades from banking to hard) fun to watch but is getting old. The next logical step is????? nitro right. "Yaaaaa" Every thing I have read has brought me to the Raptor. So here I sit with my problem I am scared. Bottom line how different is a Raptor from the little Hirobo toy heli. My cat by the way is I am sure, permanently scared mentaly for life from me chasing it around the house with the thing. Pickles has a problem with electric motors now....hhhhmmmmm dont know why??? Anywho if anyone can bring some experience and suggestions my way that would rock. Thats what this is all about right. Thanx for your time.
I crash there for I am.

Re: Next logical step

Hi nosedivetoo,

Let me tell you that its normal being scared. Well, you are moving to a much more
powerful RC helicopter so I think that you are entitled to be scared. The Raptor is a
great RC helicopter to start with. As you will read here and everywhere else, the
Raptor is economically priced and the parts are easily obtainable. Let me tell you
Nose Dive, if your cat hates electric motors now, just wait until it hears the
wonderful cracking sound of a nitro motor.

One piece of advice that I can give you is that nitro RC helicopters are not to be
taken lightly. The blades on the nitro RC helicopter can tear your Pickles to shreds,
not a good visual but it’s the truth . So in other words, be really, really careful with
the use of RC helicopters.

One final advice, make sure that you pay close attention to all instructions that are
given to you with your RC helicopter. It can be instructions on assembling to even
flying. Also, if you don’t understand something make sure you get the correct
answer somewhere before attempting to assemble or even fly your RC helicopter.

Nose Dive, Good luck!

Re: Next logical step

My thoughts are the same as vcampos. I also recommend a simulator to help hone your skills on a larger machine, with the sims today they do a great job simulating what you will experience for real.

Providing you are sure that this hobby is for you, I would suggest that you go with a Raptor .50v2 with the OS.50 Hyper. Make sure to have a transmitter with 5 point pitch curves at a minimum too. This setup will keep you happy for many flights to come, and you should not outgrow it anytime soon.

I started with a Raptor .30v2 4 months ago and I am already building a Raptor .50v2 as I see myself outgrowing it withing the coming months. I will make sure I learn to walk before I run. If you know what I mean.

Happy Flying and safe landings.

Re: Next logical step

Hello,

I would like to thank vcampos and heliraptor for the excellent advice. I bought a simulator program recently and I am enjoying the heck out of it.

Thanks!
