| Re: death of a raptor, WHY? thanks for all your reply s i have found the answer, too much 3d flying on nicad batts. my failsafe was kicking in and i had not set the servo for where to go when the failsafe kicked in so the tail happened to be set all the way to the left so thats what it did. now will be setting up li-on system. i have being told that i could get up to ten full 3d flights with the right size battery. we live and learn. happy landings ![]()

| Re: death of a raptor, WHY? Hi , When building the tail parts up again, you must make sure that you put into place the tiny GRUB SCREWS in the ends of any shafts that the gears go on, these hold in the pins that go through the gears and can work their way out, this will result in a loss of control as the gears strip or get fragmented. |

| Re: death of a raptor, WHY? [quote=3dee;27546]Hi all, I need to tell some one and you are the ones to tell I know you will understand. I moved up to a raptor 90 four months ago and its being great. after a repair due to a bad auto I did, went to the flying site to trim---snippet---- Lost controll of tail OR Lost Tail controll? There is a difference. If you gave the correct input but the tail did NOT respond [=Lost tail controll], then I would say you had a reciever problem, due to battery low, glitch or radio interfearence? Did your Gyro come unglued and dangle the tail to destruction? A free weeling swinging gyro is a nightmare. | Re: death of a raptor, WHY? no, what happened was my ff9 was in pcm and i had not sorted the failsafe out, so the last flight of the day it failsafe d while i was inverted and the tail had full left in so that was what it did. i have now gone to lipos run a 6volt set up and will never sailsafe again due to low battery voltage, and even if it does fail safe i have set it up with tick over and all channels centered ... thanks for asking anyway ![]()

| Re: death of a raptor, WHY? Hi, Im back, sorry to hear that, I was having some tail "gyro" lock a couple of weeks ago, I almost end the same as you, but suddenly I gain control back, I landed inmediately and checked everything, nothing was wrong, cables, signal, RX, TX everything OK, after hours of deliberation I found that the problem was my gyro initialization method, I have a GY401 and your TX MUST be ON BEFORE you turn on your model, I did it this way everytime, but sometimes when the engine did not start due a false glowplug contact, I turned everything off to save batteries, and then unexpectely I turned the model BEFORE the TX. I good check for this is when you start to hover your tail reponds fine, it seems thats everything is ok, but do not, apply full power suddenly and check if your bird holds the tail, it should, if not, the gyro is not working fine and a lock is just around the corner.

| Re: death of a raptor, WHY? yes thats true. I always check that the red light is on and not flashing before I pick up the heli to go to the pad, and after the first little hover, but my problem was nimah batteries not keeping up with the high kg servos in 3d flight. I now run a 7.2 lipo set up with a 4240 mah one and have no problems with power any more.
