Re: A question to people who fly .90's

I dont do 3D stuff with the Predator....it can do it but the risks are higher...with servos costing 72 quid EACH plus the weight of the heli would mean some serious damage should it hit the ground hard enough.

Otherwise it flys well....I do stall turns and yank and bank stuff....but I dont bother going inverted....its a big heli which needs respect.

I got mine at Midlandhelicopters, spares can be found at CenturyUK.

Re: A question to people who fly .90's

I see all my servo are 79 each futaba 9252 all round and 65 for a futaba 3010 on the pitch all together about £450 for the servos. I do all the 3d I can do tick tocks stall turns fast piros inverted nose and tail and its in bits right now but its a raptor 90 and thats what there are meant to do. I would still like a big petrol one but your right i might not do so much 3d stuff with a bigger one, as I dont have one right now I cannot say. When I do I will let you know

Re: A question to people who fly .90's

Im newbie also, I just started on Feb 07 with a Raptor 30 V2, I used to fly fixed wings since 15 years ago, at that time in order to learn someone sold me .19 veco engine, mounted on a plastic (heavy) Futaba Trainer plane, 40 inches wing span, I have been told that that was a cheap plane with very strong body to support crashes, small engine which is safer and bla, bla, bla, I really suffered learning with this thing trying to compensate the lack of power required when you got into trouble, as a thumb of rule if price is not concern goes to the highest you can afford. My first crash with the Raptor 30 was due a rich mixture on my OS32H, great engine, but I think it is marginal, it should be very good adjusted to really feel comfortable with it, which is not a good thing for beginners. Now Im flying a TT90SE, I setted for beginners and fly lovely, extremely stable, a bunch of power available, the mixture setting is not so critical and you can get easy out from trouble, parts are expensive but if you know your skills you can really save on this, my only complain given the fact that I live in Costa Rica and the fuel must be imported $$$ is that this machine consumes a LOT of fuel.

I agree with all you say and the fuel is the only problem. i live in the uk and i pay about 18 pounds for 5lit. 20% nitro. I had a week off for easter and spent it at the flying site, we have to log in and out of the site and in that week i was there for 38 hours. went through over 30 lit. of fuel about 100 pounds in cost. but you should see the way my flying has improved. i know chase most off the planes round and half of them i am twice as fast as them. we only have about six hellicopter flyers in the club of 124 members and mine is the only 90 size. its great to be the biggest and fastest helly in the club. keep up the hours in the air and you will improve very quick.p.s. if you dont have a flight sim with a rapter like helicopter on it, get one it makes alot of difference to your rate of learning.

how is your Predator gasser at 3d stuff how much are they to buy. can you get parts in uk easy. I would love a gasser the y fuel bill is killing me but a like the power of the cspec 91
I costed this out 21/2 - 3 years ago by taking it in turns to fly each heli the same amount of tanks of fuel
Predator with an OS 70 engine running Magnum 20%
Predator Gasser with the zenoha 23PUH
Both heli's use the same size tank 22oz tank

Cost of Magnum £16 per US gallon
Cost of Petrol mixed with Oil £5.50 UK Gallon

Flight times 10 mins with the OS 70
34 mins with the gasser

so for the same flight times I would have to burn 3 gallons of Magnum to one of Petrol for the gasser

Or if i just flew the the Gasser I'd be saving £42:50 for every gallon i used LOL

The Gasser will perform all the 3D moves that you are capable of It just will not do it with the same snap/crispness as the 90 will due to the weight difference

Re: A question to people who fly .90's

now you have got me going. I have being talking to some else about a bme engine a converted super tiger 90 that only a little bigger than an OS 91 he has got photos of a raptor with one in. while in the air the looks of it is the same as a glow one and if you say the gassers will do 3d but not quite as sharp, well i'm not that sharp at doing 3d so i could always blame the helly. God i got to go shopping for a gasser.

Re: A question to people who fly .90's

Have you checked out the gasser forum on Runryder
There are some links on it for folks that have posted links to vids that they have posted putting Predator gassers and Bergin Gassers through a few manoeuvres
