Raptor gearing

If i take of an 86 tooth main spur gear and put on an 85 with a 9 tooth pinion gear will this slow head speed or speed it up. or second option 86 main and 11 pinion what would this do.
Thanks in advance

Re: Raptor gearing

Hi, I hope i remember this right. the lower the gear ratio is the higher the head speed will be. so that being true, your 85- 9 set up would give you 9.5 ratio and the 85- 9 set up would give 9.4 .. you divide the main gear by the pin gear that gives you the ratio...the 86 main and 11 pin would give you 7.8 to one ratio. depending on which engine you use, i think the os peek power is about 1500 rpm so 1500/ 9.5 = 157 ...... 1500/7.8 =192 so that shows the 86-11 set up will give you more head speed. but if you get a gv1 just set it head speed and work out the ratio you have now, and the gv1 will do all the maths fot you. (guys if i have got this wrong tell him dont want to give bad info out do we) hope this helps
