One of those noises!!! Hi All. Have a little problem that I’m hoping one of you may be able to help me with. I have a Raptor 50V2. Its now done about 70 successful flights. Whilst I’m not at the 3D stage, I’m pretty confident at flying it around in circuits and some auto’s and maybe the odd stall turn or two. Recently I have noticed that there is a whirring noise as I fly circuits. I have head rpm set to 1,275 in normal mode and 1,550 in idle up 1, this is managed through a Revlock 10 and switch operated from the FF9 tranny. When hovering in normal there is no noise. When I flick to Idle1 the whirring noise appears and cycles in and out at about 1-2 seconds. Thinking logically! I have just replaced the tail drive belt and main shaft bearings but still the noise appears at higher rpm’s. The heli is always well serviced and clean. But this noise concerns me and it ruins the over all effect of this model in flight. Any Ideas!!!!! ![]()

Re: One of those noises!!! Lets see, I have a raptor 50 and have not had that deal. I suggest, lube the swash plate, check gear lash, motor to main gear. Check belt idler bearings, check for slop in the one way bearing on start shaft. Last thing, could your canopy be moving around and touching swash levers?? Clutch bell could cause some wierd noise, but should be there consistantly. Wish I could come up with some real cure, but thats about all I can think of. Make sure belt has enough tension, and not over tight. Later, Jimco

Re: One of those noises!!! After re-reading your post, you say over 70 flights, I think I would check the clutch liner. If it is pretty well gone, you are probably picking up noise between the bell and the clutch. Jimco

Re: One of those noises!!! Hi jimco Like I have said. This model is well maintained. No slack parts. cluch liner was re-done over the winter. The heli is A1 condition. However I will take a look at the canopy issue. Ill fly without it and let you know. Thanks for this pointer

Re: One of those noises!!! Jimco. I think I found the problem! the bearing within the cluch bell has some play in it. Also the starter shaft has a slight wearing where it locates through this bearing. I've had a good look at the pinion gear. The one side of the teeth are shiny so I asume this is worn slightly. I'm gonna replace all the gears and bearing to this area. hopfully this will solve the noise issue.
