Raptor Shakes

Help!!!!!!!!!
I recently bought a Raptor v1 from a good friend. It is about 3 years old and has not been used for that time and had only been hovered a dozen times! When I start her up she seems to run fast then settles into a nice idle, I wind her up and she hovers well at about 1m. After a couple of minutes she starts to die then cuts out.. I restart her and she idles nice straight away... I get her up into the hover and when she gets to about 1ft she shakes like hell and I havt to put her down! This happens each time I re-hover her and I give up! I think it may be an engine problem as i had similar trouble with a Nexus 30 I built about 4 years ago!!

Re: Raptor Shakes

Try to tightened the bolts and nuts and especially the main shaft. Because those are the main cause of vibration and for the heli to shake more, it happened to mine before and when I checked every linkages and also done by holding both main rotor blades holder together and feel if there's a play which there should not, then adjust those parts. You will noticed that there is a play or not when you hold both main rotor blade's holder together and try to move them from left to right slowly.

good luck!

Re: Raptor Shakes

Cheers Mate!
Will give that a try. I know the common problem for this kind of problem is a bent main shaft, fly bar or blade feathering shaft which is usually the result of a crash! They all seem ok! It has never been crahed or landed heavy! The Nexus I owned about 4 years ago had a similar problem and the engine needed to be replaced! Thanx again!

Re: Raptor Shakes

Sounds like its running a bit lean and over heating then cuting out.
Then when you restart it and hover it the head speed is to slow so it gets the shakes.
Richen it up a bit and see how it goes.

Re: Raptor Shakes

I had exactly the same problem. It was due to the washer being left off the glow plug by mistake so engine was loosing compression. Make sure washer is fitted and plug is tight. Good luck

Re: Raptor Shakes

Change all the fuel lines including the line inside the Fuel tank.
Set the needles to the manufactures specs
next time you start the heli Pinch the fuel line to the carb until the engine dies and time it,,, should be around 6 sec's or more on an engine that is set rich ,any less than that then Richen the lower needle

When you get it to around this time frame spool the heli up into the hover and land again after a few minutes of flight and using your finger place it onto the backplate of the engine as soon as possible after landing, start counting 1,2,3,4, etc
if you can can count to 7 or 8 before you have to move your finger then your needles are in the right area for a beginer , any less than this and the engine is too lean so richen the top needle.. If the count is less than 3 or 4 richen the bottom needle first try again then richen the top needle
