Re: Newbie

I will give you an example,,,, My transmitter plugs into the computor and I "fly" the chopper from it.
I use reflex which is a bit expensive but if you consider its half the cost of a new chopper!! well worth it.

another example when I was first learning I probably crashed 50 times lol how much did it cost me too repair?? NOTHING

With my caliber 30 I have crashed 3 times now and its cost me about $NZ400 so can you see why its worth getting a simulator..........

my chopper is waiting on parts at the moment as crashed but not too badly...

also make sure you get really good trainer feed!! it will help absorb some of the dammage WHEN you crash

Re: Newbie

Welcome I am a noob also here and I agree on the sim it will save you money and will teach you well I would say either Reflex XTR or Great Planes G3 both are great and will teach you well.I learned on Great Planes G2 and it was not as good as the new ones but it taught me well on how to set up and use my radio and heli.I spent over 100 hours on the sim before I even purchased my first heli and when I did get to flying I pulled it up into a perfect hover and flew it for one full battery pack. Now I have both electric and nitro helis to fly,and enjoy both.

Well first off, Hello! I am new to this site. I have been flying a bit and I will give you my opinion on the sim. First off I use RFG2. As was said earlier about the sim being harder to fly than the real thing, that is partially true for me. For instance I can fly a stall turn for real and on the sim. That manuever is harder for me on the sim. So once I learn a move I find it easier with the real thing. However with the real thing there is a "pucker factor" as there is no reset button in real life. So with that, in the sim I can fly 10 times the moves that I can in real life. For me the sim is an invaluable tool for learing the stick movements and basic orientation. I can tell you though that it has saved me a ton of money. Good luck and have some fun, that's what the hobby is all about.

Hi Helihead
I've just found this site too. I'm learning on a Shuttle 30 Plus and am in the North-East (Blaydon). I'm not using a sim. You started before me, so how are you doing?
