Talking Helicopter Hour Tracking

I've long wanted to be able to track all my parts, their hours in use, maintenance records with parts and their costs and to just generally keep a log of what happened when with my helicopter. With a second helicopter coming on line soon, I really need a way to track this stuff besides just an Excel spreadsheet.

So- I ask everyone this question- What's out there? Is there an application designed to do this? If not, I very much want to write one.

If there isn't one out there and you feel like it is something you'd like to use let me know. Let me also know the features you'd like to see.

This would be a free software program written by me for the community. I've done a few before and had minimal success- mainly because those that needed the app were so few- the apps worked REALLY well.

Very interested in your feed back! It's a big project and I'd hate to do it just for myself!

Sounds like you want to follow full scale helis maintenance cycles.

On the cessna I fly, we have a 50 hr maintenance cycle on the engine, and a major overhaul after ??? hrs.

Why not just use an excel spreadsheet to do all that?

Anyway I know myself, I get lazy after a while, and then I will stop logging things...

Oh yah, but if you want to do it, it would be a great idea to do it as a web based program, so that it can be used by the community and the data can be shared by people to see how many hours each of us fly.

Web enabled was a good idea....gonna have to brush up on the perl scripting....

My main goal is to track my costs and such. I've done a sloppy job of keeping track of how much I've spent on what over the last 7 years that I really can't tell you which parts on my heli are new or not...
