I'm seriously thinking about buying this: comments please?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=3127630883

This really does look an excellent buy because of the price.

Are there any caveats I ought to be aware of?

One question I did just email the seller: because it's old, and the tx and rx aren't included (but the servos are) then maybe I won't be able to find a rx that'll connect to the servos. I've also asked what happened to the original rx.

Any other things I ought to keep in mind or be aware of (apart from the obvious possibility of crash damage).

Is it going to be impossible to get parts for and I'm basically buying an expensive piece of metal and plastic if it stops flying (e.g., on my first crash with it)?

Hi Darren
Tis me again. I am glad to see you did not buy the Morely.
As it is an older model I would have to express some serious concerns about it. Dont get me wrong I have an even older model, now rarely flown, Morely produced a cheap and flyable heli in the days when cheap was not associated with heli's. You have then a compromise versus cost, the newer ones are a vast improvement. For me however they counter rotate so the left leg hangs and I am not used to that. As for crashed heli;s as long as there are spares for your choice then it doesnt realy matter,

This should be noted as a very personal opinion before all you anti clockwise lot come and give me a thrashing. It is all down to what we get used to.

Hey rotorz!

Damn, I missed the ebay auction, didn't I (was distracted today - other things on my mind).

Was the fact it was counter-rotating the only reason not to buy?

The seller got back to me: NES-517 servos all round (exactly what I use on the Shuttle apart from the throttle which is an NES-507 - the only difference is the NES-517 is a ball-raced version of the 507 - all other things are equal (dimensions, torque and speed) according to JR's technical data on their website)

I'm feeling a bit sad now. But tell me - is the only reason because it's counter-rotating?

Oh no
be greatful you missed it.
Compared to your shuttle there is no contest. That is unless you fancy a challange but it wont be to develop your piloting skills in the right direction. It would need considerable work to get it as positive and is a definate candidate for CCPM as the mixing assenbly is tooooo flexible. I have a list of problems I would and have had with these heli's. One problem you will not have is price. The spares are cheap and there is some of the difficulties because of the compromise of cost.

The newer ones are a little more refined and that is partly due to the company joining another who make some of the best hopup accessories for heli's. They have however always made some stunning quality scale bodies and I would love to get my hands on a old Morely Wasp.

Go .60 or gasser size you would love it.
Happy Landings
