 Constant Forward/Backward or Left/Right Movement.....

I am currently using the Hitec Eclipse 7 QPCM radio and matching RX and a F 401 gyro.
Up to this point I basically have been practicing directional heading control by driving the heli left and right while on the ground by the use of the left stick. Now that I am gotten the hang of tail control I have been gradually applying more throttle in attempt to lift the heli into a hover while counter acting any forward/backward or left/right movement by the use of the right stick. While increasing the throttle the heil will attempts either move forward/backward or left/right while the throttle is increased. This counter action/adjustment is almost constant while increasing the throttle and yet still on the ground before hovering. After working to balance out the pitch I am beginning to see less forward/backward or left/right movement while increasing the throttle (but not completely) and still I do have to constantly counter the forward/backward or left/right movement as the throttle is increased in order to keep the heil steady. Is this action normal? Something I did notice while balancing out the blade pitch it seems that my feather plate is hanging/bent low on one side. Could this be the cause of the constant forward/backward or left/right movement that I am experiencing while increasing the throttle? I am thinking of replacing the stock feather plate with a carbon reinforced feather plate in an attempt to archive greater blade pitch. Also, I am thing of replacing the tail drive wire with a belt drive. I stripped the gear on the tail drive wire as a result of accidentally hitting an object with the tail rotor.
One other thing, what are your thoughts on the upgrading the stock tail boom with a CF Tailboom. With a CF tailboom is it less likely to dent or bend as a result of a tailboom strike?
