| Main motor keeps burning Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Exceed-RC (Eagle 50). My main motor keeps burning. BabyHuey sugested I remove the label that covers the cooling vents. I did this but the motor still burns. I've changed 3 in a short period of time. Is there something else that might be causing this? Thanks in advance. lroar |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning I dont know the helicopter you have...and I dont know what radio you have either. It could be down to overloading the motor...maybe there is too high a pitch for a given demand on the motor. My experience is that motors like to run nice and fast with not too much of a load. Is there a choice of pinion gears? ie did you get a 'spare' small brass looking gear? Whats the tail drive like...is it belt driven or wire shaft driven...either one can be too tight...a belt doesnt need to be tight...you want to be able to squeeze the belt together (where you can see it within the frames) but not with force...just squeeze it and see where it resists...about half the way across is about right if you get my drift. Gear driven tail shaft drives? they need a little bit of slack on the gear mesh...too tight will overload the system for sure. Make sure the motor can 'breath' it needs cooling air. Other than that, its a budget heli? well they can suffer from problems like you have...but try out the points I have mentioned. Rob |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Thanks a lot Rob. This Heli carries a separate tail motor, but I didn't get a spare gear for the main motor. I received the radio with the heli. There's a bunch of dip switches behind, they're set according to the directions in the manual. I didn't have to touch them. I removed the label that was covering the vents on the motor. Still burned. Could the speed controller be defective? Ken. |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Make sure the pinion is not meshed to tight on the maingear and go down 2 teeth sizes on pinion...

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Thanks Dwntyme, I'll keep it off a bit, but I won't know where to put my hands on a pinion that size. On the other hand, will the Heli blades get enough speed with that size pinion? Well I don't suppose the speed controller could cause that problem. |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning I could also make another suggestion. the eagle is the cousin of the AXE cp. I would replace the Bruished motor with a brushless setup. your manual should show you an option to upgrade to that type motor...Out runner motors run cool. BTW are you using the Ni-Mh battery or Lipo?

| Re: Main motor keeps burning The brushless motor will fix it. The motors that come with them are very bad. Also the heli is the same as the Walkera 22e so that forum should help.

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Lots of thanks to you guys, Dwnytme & BABY HUEY. I appreciate that and I'll go for the brushless. My Heli is using the Li-Po. I don't like the memory issues with the Ni-Mh The manual that came with this chopper don't give you much. The parts list shows an optional brushless motor & speed controller. So I assume I'll have to change the speed controller as well. Again thanks guys. |
