I almost gave up Flying these things because the Heli that I had was so unreliable that I couldn't tell If It was the problem or if it was my flying. ![]() Tail motors are sneaky bad and will cause you to crash more than fly so don't be fooled into thinking that you can't fly a Heli. ![]()

Re: Main motor keeps burning Rob, I agree with you. Between the two Helis, the larger one was easy to manage. I crashed because one of the links was cracked and I didn't realize it. It broke in flight and try as I may, I couldn't get proper response from the radio. May I also add that I neglected to turn down the throttle and damaged the main gear set. If it was the Eagle 50, the motor would've burnt. I also agree with you about the experience. That's why I tried to start with the small one, so that repairs would be less costly. It don't seem to work that way, because I'll crash 10 times with the smaller one against once with the larger. I have an E sky flight simulator, but I don't use it again, because the controls are contrary to what's on the real radio. I'm afraid that I might learn the right way on the wrong controls, then when I go out to fly, I'll be confused. I also get disoriented when all I see is sky on the monitor. My intention is to get a much larger Heli, not excluding the Nitro, as soon as I gain some confidence. I can get parts for the E sky belt CP, although when I check, some of the parts are "sold out" I want to up grade the belt CP with those machined aluminum parts after I sort out the Eagle 50. Ken

Re: Main motor keeps burning BABY HUEY I almost gave up at one time. The only thing that kept me is the amount I've invested in the sport. The belt CP also gives me some hope. Unlike the Eagle 50, which I never really see fly, the belt CP flew for about 1 minute before a linkage broke. I believe the linkage was cracked when on my first attempt the Heli tilted and the blades hit the ground. I checked it and everything seemed to be OK, except some slight damage to the main blades. I was wrong. The linkage I'm referring too is one that has a loop in the middle. I will try to post a photo of my helis later.

Re: Main motor keeps burning Smart looking helis, I like the Belt CP better I must admit...having a tail drive is a better idea. Good luck with getting them set up so they fly. Rob

Re: Main motor keeps burning If you get a nitro heli then make sure to shop around and get a deal...there are quite a few out there. Getting a deal package is the better route, you have to get things like engine and gyro and so on...and a deal will save a bit of cash. Make of heli? there are quite a few out there, the most important thing is the parts...cost and availability of...The Raptor series and popular helis...nice and tough...Century make some nice helis too..no nonsense cheap machines that fly good. I have a Hirobo Sceadu 30 which is a fine heli...I usually fly a Petrol engined Predator which is a Century product..the Sceadu is a nice 'play' heli. There is a wealth of experience on this site with Nitro helis, I really must say that you wont get a better deal than getting a typical 30 size nitro heli WITH decent gear...like a good radio for a start. Have you got a simulator? Rob

Re: Main motor keeps burning Rob,I was thinking more in line with the 90 size of Nitros. Once I feel confident, I'll skip the other sizes and go straight for the 90. Of course when I think I can handle 3D, I'll practice with the smaller one in my possession. I have an E sky simulator, but I stopped using it, because the controls are reversed to my real radio. I believe I might be learning on the wrong radio, so that when I use my real radio, I'll get confused. When I decide to go Nitro, I'll be hollering for help. I don't think I'll be able to get an RTF Nitro, so I'll need help in choosing the right parts. Dunno if I should check ebay for something like that. Ken.

Re: Main motor keeps burning Not being funny here, but a 90 size nitro will set your world in a spin. They are very very powerful machines...that if not handled well can cause big problems. If you are determined that you want performance then go for a 50 size...plenty of poke with this size engine class. Seriously though, if you insist on the 90 then at least join a club or get help. I have known of at least one person who started off with a gasser...which is near enough 90 size...mine is 23cc so that would be 90 size....it can be done. I started off with 30 size helis before getting my gasser, it was a huge step...quite a scary machine that commands respect......and I mean respect. Mine can do 70 mph and weighs in at 5.5 kgs...points to bear in mind. Rob
