Trex 450SE buying Question.

ok, as you may know by my posts here ( i know hawkman will [btw thank you again for all of the help]) i am still really new (finally got a hover to last 10 seconds without losing control and crashing). but i think i have caught heli fever. i am already thinking of my next heli. I saw the Trex 450SE first on youtube, and knew that that would be my next heli (even before i got this one!! {my first one btw}) if i liked heli flying. Well i know that i don't like heli flying. I absolutely LOVE it. I have caught myself staring at the charger thinking 'turn green, turn green'. Well anyways. Now i know, i am still a year or so away from needing something better, but i am the kind of person that likes to know EXACTLY what i want a really long time before i can even use it. so i have a long time to think on my decision. My main question is whether or not the parts in this package i found online where worth even buying.

as far as my newbie eyes can see. Everything looks like they are ok, but take note that i said NEWBIE EYES.

I am sorry if i have been a pest on these forums because i have been constantly asking questions non-stop ( and again i can't thank you enough hawkman ).

P.S. I am planing on doing 3D with it if that helps at all .

Re: Trex 450SE buying Question.

Why protect advertisers Val? or are they getting rubbish emails/spam?

I would go with the Trex series, its up to you. If you have the space and the extra cash then why not look at the 500 series Rex. I like the 450 I have...handles well and doesnt mind a breeze.

The crucial items are those that will last a long time, the radio MUST be a proper one...2.4ghz seems the best of the lot...whether you use Spectrum is up to you.

A good charger is another must, as are good tools...for support. The allen drivers you get now are really nice...big step up from allen keys.

A good gyro is important too, the GY401 seems popular...very adjustable.

If you have a sim then get really good with this, fly as much as possible. Fly all types of model on the sim...use the easy ones first then work your way along to the hardest.

I cant stress enough just how important sim time is....if you are a purist and dont want to use a sim then my deepest respect goes to you.

Sims can never replace the real thing, why should they...where would be the point? you cant beat 'air time' but with a sim you can take risks to try things out...without the expense.

Re: Trex 450SE buying Question.

thanks for the info. I just don't see myself buying a sim when they cost that much. Because i haven't had a crash in awhile and i am increasing my air time every battery. However, i am starting to think a sim might be a good idea now ,because as i found out i don't even have to 'crash it' to break something. Because i was flying today and i landed, then i went to take off then the little metal hook thing on the vertical rudder (i am not sure if that is what it's called) that is supposed to save the tail rotor got caught in the grass which made the vertical rudder (?) bend. Next thing i knew i heard a snap and saw a black thing land about a meter away from the heli. I went over and saw that it was part of the tail rotor. just my luck... Now i have to wait for shipping... again... for the second time this week... So now i just might consider getting a sim.

Re: Trex 450SE buying Question.

There is FMS, free off the net. You only need some way of connecting your radio to the PC to run it. Its available as a package, the UK market retails for about £25...this includes the transmitter and cable..the FMS program is included too...its freeware you re just paying for the hardware thats all...I am sure its in your country somewhere.

FMS is good, not the best ever but for what it is...its good.

A proper sim is worlds apart, I like Reflex XTR. Nice graphics and well laid out.
