Beginner Neads Help

Hi, Im a total novice to RC heli's but bery interested in the sport. I bought an old CONCEPT30 off a friend, spent loads doing it up and getting it checked out at a model shop. Read loads of stories on the net about people flying for the first time and hovering straight away with no problems (how can this be). My heli is all over the show. Can just about keep it level but moves all over the place. I set the trims but when i go to take off again it moves it totally different directions, so i have to alter the trims again - and again - and again......Im I doing something wrong....HELP PLEASE.....

Hi, Welcome to the sport!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the heli. The heli will at first run all over the place. That's because you're still not in control yet.

It takes practice and more practice.

By the way, if you're thinking that the heli will stay at one spot if you don't touch the sticks, that's not how it goes.

You will have to control it to keep it steady at one spot.

Question Help with Colco Thunderbird

I am a total newbie. Bought the colco tbird off ebay. has a simulation cable and crappy instructions. First off, how do i calibrate the remote? it is 6 channel. what are the toggle switches for? I have Mode 1, how can it be changed or can it? Is there a simulation program out there compatible with this model and radio? I know these are simple questions, but I really want to learn on a simulator before I ever take the model out of the box. I think it is a fixed pitch model, could someone confirm?
thanks,
James
