Angry Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard

The other day I was out hovering my CPP and this guy came up looked over at me noded his head
then opened a box to a Raptor G2, now I know thier not the best in stock form but This guy set it on
ground fired it up in Idleup and away it went, the worst attempt of flying I've ever seen.
He plowed it into the ground, Peros the whole time, I seen enough I ask the guy how long have you
been flying? he says 3 days, I said I'll give your $$ back for that heli! He said deal. ( I just couldn't
see someone do that to good heli) So now I have a very beatup G2 But it's comming along, I was able to
hover it lastnight.... So I think I will give this one the works on upgrades and see what happens...

Good for you!!! take care with it....be real careful and check those blades....if they are damaged then be careful....a broken/cracked blade is bad news.

Re: Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard

Yeah I bought some carbons for it because the fiberglass ones that came
with are cracked at the Blade grips, tailboom support was bent, flybar paddle blade gub screws are striped so I bought some more....It was abused real bad.... but It'll get some TLC here..

BTW
He said that on the box was "RTF ready to fly" and that's what he intended on doing,
I offered some help but He would have none of it and that he knew what he was doing.
That's when I offered to buy it...

Re: Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard

Good call.....I hated wooden blades becuase they can hide some nasty cracks after a blade strike....theres a lot of force there.

I guess some people are impatient with rc helis....not a healthy attitude.

Good luck with it

Re: Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard (update)

The G2 glitched on ne last night while hovering in the garage.
No TX input at all, It flew backwards really fast I tried to move(not fast enough) and it struck me in the upper arm it cut my shirt but not my arm
but I have some really nice blood red(blisters) Time to change the electics
before It kills someone. If anyone ever thinks about buying one af these
or a Walkera 36 The first thing to do is throw all the radio stuff in the trash....

Re: Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard

hello Dwnytme,

Was that a brush moter version with the esc in the rx? Because I had a simmilar incident in my livingroom that ended badly for my heli and an heirloom guitar Those controls are dangerous and should not be used! That heli worked fine with the stock tx and an aftermarket rx when I went to brushless and separate esc, but it is better now with a Futaba rx/tx

Also if you use the stock tx watch those batteries! THE RANGE GOES TO HcLL IN A HURRY when the tx batt goes low

Anyway don't feel to bad, A stock W36 chased me under my truck the other day

Fly carefull,
Neil

Re: Raptor G2 saved from Heli graveyard

Yeah it's the Brushed heli not the SE model. In the old days we used to run
a separte battery for RX (RC cars) and the main battery for the speed controler I may do this heli that way to insure that the RX gets plenty of Juice.... so I don't get chased under a truck....
