Question plastic or metal

I have a trex 450 xl with 401 and dig servo
align 35 esc and 430L motor
i keep breaking a lot of head parts so i orderd a full metal head
joe the guy ive been buying every thing from says that i should still use plastic in the main grips untill im more confident. kind of creating a weak link

Re: plastic or metal

Hi there,

Well, thats what Ive done. The benefit of it is questionable though there is the train of thought that says if you land hard enough to bust the blade grips your blades and feathering spindle are going west anyway so why add to the damage by blowing the blade grips. Having plastic grips MIGHT save your servos in a crash though cos they might break before the gears strip in the servo.

Just my thoughts, hope it helps.... Azzy

Re: plastic or metal

Blade grips, even plastic are pretty tuff. I have found first hand that the spindle is a weak link ha ha. I have yet to break grips or shatter blades but I bend spindles often.
