Hey Jeff,
that's a great idea!
With the vagaries of internet commerce, I tend to shoot first and ask questions later.
There have been a couple posts on recommended sites as well. Having a list we could refer to wouldn't be bad, especially for we newbies. I've been in RC a long time, so know mostly what's tried and true, but nobody carries everything.

You actually got a tracking number and still no heli? That s*cks!!!

I'm gonna wait for Radio Shack to get them in. I've got two stores within 5 mins of the house, so until I can walk out of the store with one, at this point, I don't trust anyone

Meantime, I'll bet they sell on ebay. I have the week off next week, and my girlfriend has to work, so I have time on my hands... Time to flame ^_^

Just found this on the net:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store..._Toy_Marketing

Seems their tactic is to bait and switch, and then change their name.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE CROOKS!!!!!!

Re: Picco z...value for money:)

OK,
so having been sorely disappointed for the holidays (not really - just no micro heli ) I ran across this little gadget. I could've purchased it at Radio Shack 3 weeks ago, after failing to get ahold of the Picco, but wasn't clued into its capabilities.

This is intriguing however. 3 channels, so includes forward/backward (over and above altitude and yaw) for only $ 30 more than the Picco. My girlfriend's step-mother's husband's son (how complicated is that??) got one for xmas.

Coaxial, so very stable, and the tail rotor is horizontally mounted so you can lift or drop the tail via radio w/o having to add any nose weight. The engineering is amazing. Gave it a test drive last night - grinning ear to ear in 2 secs! VERY nice! It also has assembled body parts which can be taken apart with a tiny phillips screwdriver (+), so mods look really possible.

Doesn't really look like a heli - more like a winged scorpion - but initial impression is that, once set up (like the Picco) it should be a really nice machine. Yeah, it's got that stupid ring around the rotor thing going on, but after having bounced it off the TV, a cabinet and the coffee table with NO damage to the heli, I'm sold.

I guess rc micro-helis are all the rage this year, 'cuz I got 5 Radio Shacks within 6 miles of my house, and they're all sold out. They say they'll have new stock sometime this week though.

P.S.
for those in the UK, I did see a site there that sells them, but they're converting the £ to the $ at 1 to 1

Oh man, I could have gotten that one. It was in stock at my local Radio shack. I think it is 69 dollars though. I didn't think it was going to be as good. So I passed on it. I will have to consider getting it now though..Although, Santa gave me a Raptor 30 for Christmas, that is what I'm concentrating on now

Re: Picco z...value for money:)

Hey all .... been awhile, like a year (a little less) been busy, blah blah blah

Anyway ... PiccoZ -- I've got a clone. In fact there are a bunch of clones out there. Mine is called the Little Bee, no name on the box other than that. Works like a charm. I love this little thing. And if you get a good one you can 'train' a bit on it. Helps considerably with nose/tail orientation as long as you get it to have forward flight. Flys well indoors but don't expect anything outside. I've done it on 'really' calm days with total success. Unlike my Honeybee (still dead).
My other 'brand' picco z is called a Vespid 2 made by FlyModel (who ever the hell they are) and has noticable differences. Thicker body and softer blades, less tail control and much harder to get forward flight. Plus the radio had power problems (batt contacts) but was easily fixed without having to return it.
I paid $35 (usd) including shipping. Had a coupon from helihobby who sold me the Little Bee. Then a friend of mine bought 12 ( ) from them @ a total of $32 each with shipping. Not a bad deal but they sent the Vespid 2 and not the Little Bee. So if you order from them make sure you know which one they're going to send.
Boat load of threads out there as well discussing the clones ... most are bad out of the box so take care to what you buy. The "real" Picco Z is made by SilverLit and I have no experience with that one but the forums seem to agree that it is the better one.
Hope to have an update to the site with this little thing featured. Need time to get there though.
Take care all and happy flying!
