Re: another FNG

Having spent the last week or so on Reflex...I borrowed it from a mate....I would say its excellent.....I was blown away by the graphics.

I have just got Pheoenix....this is cheaper but just as good as Reflex...it also has a better choice of models...my favorite is the Knight 50 heli....my fav fixed wing has to be the turbine powered Hawk.

Practice till you get really good......when you get good on the controls then try altering all the trims ....put then way off then go fly....this will stand you in good stead in case you find yourself flying a heli thats out of trim....this will teach you to 'aim off' on the sticks.

Throw in a few emergencys.....like fuel running out....set the fuel for 2 minutes or so.....fly around like mad and wait till the engine conks out....you will have to do an autorotation...this is essential practice becuase it could well happen at any time you fly.....do this regardless of whether you fly electric or not.....after all its a sim.....real pilots learn things with real sims.....so rc pilots need to practice their respective drills too.

Auto practice is worthwhile.....because if you freeze at the sticks in real life the blade speed decays and the heli will fall and land very hard....possibly destroying it completely.

I love the auto practice on Pheonix....it seems to fire the heli at you....you can select the height at which you start....heli gets pelted at you and you have to try to auto it in and get it down in one peice....truly great fun....do this and get it right....then fly about on the fuel running out scenario....doing an auto then is not so hard at all.
