Thumbs up Re: Walkera 22E

Thanks again for your help. It has lift off for the first time. I still need to fine tune it some. Once it is up in the air it tries to drift backwards. So maybe now I can leave the PLT and PIT controls alone. Since I know nothing about them and just use the trim to correct this.

Thanks,
John

Cool Re: Walkera 22E

The PLT and PIT are for pitch trim-if you are getting in the air ok then you don't need to adjust them.

Re: Walkera 22E

I added weight to the nose. Before it ever left the ground. I have never flown without the added weight. The reason I did this before ever leaving the ground is because I read about several people saying adding weight to the nose is a must in order to fly. Do you think this added weight is needed? Or should I remove the added weight and see what happens?

The only reason to add weight to the nose is if the heli is tail heavy-if battery placement fails to balance the heli then added weight is necessary.

Re: Walkera 22E

Do you know which helicopter is easier to fly as a beginner Dragonfly 4 or the 22E?

Re: Walkera 22E

Hey.

I installed a new rotor head onto my 22e. The question I have is, now that I have installed it how do I get the flybar to level up? When I throttle up the flybar isn't level and makes the rotor shake really violently.

How do I correct this??

Re: Walkera 22E

hello I just found this forum today, I just graduated from the exceed falcon 40 to the exceed falcon 50 (wakera 22E) and it didnt go well. The falcon 40 is constant pitch and is a great heli, I have flown it about 50 times @ 6 minutes each, this is a great heli to learn on.The only only week spot is the landing gear, and the bearings on the head and tail rotor flying off if you crash, as the tail and rotor blades pop off on impact(Good). I also found a free sim you definately need to start on called FMS, it has unreal graphics, and its free.

The 22E I have definate issues with, If you even tilt the heli on the ground the blades are gone and the flybar teeter linkage pins break, this is why the accessories for upgrade 50H03-38 kits are sold out at every online shop I see except nitroplanes.Other than that the head looks ok, another issue is no collective pitch comes on until 60% throttle, and it comes on hard and fast, and disappears just as quickly. For people learning this is all bad, it jumps up you correct and it comes crashing down, Yikes!.The blades are a joke as well, soft plastic wrapped foam core with wire for leading edge balance, all experts agree you should use wood blades to learn with they are durable and cheap.
Day one Im looking at a new tailboom, flybar teeter(50H03-38) and blade holder because Im stupid. In any case Im going to wood blades, my falcon 40 blades are that black reinforced plastic and have nailed everything under the sun and are perfectly ok. Next the 22E PLT should be at 90% and PIT at 50% because head speed is excessive and pitch too sensitive, crank up the pitch to come on early and take it very slowly. At first I thought I was in 3D mode, but the pitch sensitivity is just plain scary,wakera/exceed must be making a killing on spare parts. The 22E looks good overall, It has issues like any machine I guess, my lesson learned was go slow, very very slow until you have a handle on what the machine is doing. I will fix the 22E and continue to abuse my little falcon 40 in the meantime.
Best of luck to everyone
DonDon

Re: Walkera 22E

Four hours later and I have some answers, My hobby shop carries a heli called the Raptor 3D, it turns out the walkera 22E-Exceed eagle 50 and Raptor 3D are the same heli with different coverings.
On installing the new flybar teeter I find the teeter holder is sticking on the shaft. The whole head assembly seemed tight at first and this was why my heli was "jumping" into the air and crashing down. So I learned my lesson ,always break a new machine in on the ground.I lubed all joints with plastic safe silicon spray and ran it for 5 minutes and it is a new machine. The head assembly moves easily and smoothly- how about that. It cost 40$ to discover I am an impatient moron. I also used a metal rod pushed through the tailboom to straighten it and it feels like new. The blades are trashed however, the raptor 3D blades are identical to the 22E blades but the carbon fibre blades for the raptor are 37$ , ten dollars cheaper than the 22E blades?
So, another lesson learned the hard way.
Best of luck
