Re: Batteries Q

Hiya,

Dont have a problem with the break thing, lets the motors cool down, however, it takes longer than 15 minutes to charge a battery (assuming that you start charging as soon as you start flying) so of you want a proper flying session you need more than 1 charged battery. When I go to indoor fly ins I take 5 charged lipos. This means that I can fly, swap batteries, have a break and fly again. I dont have to hang about waiting on a pack charging.

Make sense?

Azzy

Re: Batteries Q

Yup. on that twister I think a 1250 or 1300 is the good lipo size. but haveing 4 or five lipos is good. Me I have more than one heli. so on a flight day its fly let that one cool, fly another ans switch again after that. but if you get the motor(s), pinion and esc setup good for the heli you may be able to get 2 flights befor cooling. I have seen some small cp's runing 7.4v lipos with good wraparound heatsinks on a brushless set up so they can get alot of flight time without heating things up. Keep in mind this is normal flight indoors.
If I recall wright was a hbcp2 on flatbottom woodies, a park 370 brushless on 20 or 25a esc (lightend), 1300 lipo, moded 4 in 1 (drilled out case), and a corless tail motor. Given how simaler the bcp, hbcp2, twister, and hummingbird are for auw, motor size, and blade size this could be a good setup for all of them. Put the resurch in cuz this is from memory of someone else's heli. It just sticks in my memory cuz he flew for almost 25min on one pack. Cant remember if it was tp or a koki, but the pack was a spendy one. about 50 or 60 bucks. Oh and that with no canopy on.
OK now with that side track done. More than on bat, dont bother with nicad go lipo and use a heatsink on your motors.

Re: Batteries Q

on my x400 i run an align 430l 3550 with 11t pinion on otter 35 esc and a 2200 12c lipo. on my smaller birds ie the 22e or ms hornet the align 420 2800 or eflight park 370. The venom v20 is geting good reviews too. as for lipo I have ran up to 2200 on my 22e. the hornet, maybe a 1500. With that 2200 in the 22e i got a crazy 20 min flight and had to stop to cool motor. lol. as for pinion on them I run a 9t to 11t. the 11 gives sweet headspeed but lowers flight time. but I was able to get +11 pitch and mad lift. Cution with that. I got inverted in normal mode and had to kick over to idle up to recover. then land and change my shorts. I have bought 3e brand lipos and think they are great. The cells are seporated with spacers for cooling. and at $38 a pack for 2200 12c its great. I also have a 1800 10c (unknown brand) but it only provids about 8 min hover time. I will try to use it on the hornet as it is slightly lighter that the nicad packs for them.
