| Blade cp, drops during hover Hi, I am new to rc helicopters and have just recently acquired the ability to hover with my fp humblebee, thanks mainly to the Ikaurus simulator I bought to use with my pc. Sorry, I degress, I just bought a Blade cp and when I lift off slowly, and get to about 2 feet altitude and try to hover there I get sudden drops, sometimes I can catch it in time other times it bangs on the ground before I can stop the drop. Is this a problem anyone else has and is there a fix, or is it because the thing is very sensitive and I am not holding the throttle steady enough, I am trying to be careful with the latter. Apreciate any help or Ideas anyone has. Someone suggested filing the notches on the throttle to make a smoother transition, not sure if that is what I should do or is it an electronics thing. Also forgot to mention, when I plug the battery into the heli, I hear a sizzling sound, like wet electrical conections, never heard that on my old heli. Thanks Van PS - Love the site so far, you guys seem to help each other and that is why I joined, maybe someday I can have enough experience with heli's to help others. |

| Re: Blade cp, drops during hover Do not file the notches just slip a piece of fuel tube over the ratchet as for keeping a constand altitude you have to play with throdle and have in mind if you fly outdoors that the slitest breeze effects the hight and direction try to fly into the wind

| Re: Blade cp, drops during hover Objects withen close range can efect the airflow sending it back to the heli. Also air temp afects flight. but thats normaly outside, moving from sunny to shady and thirmal shift (Speed at witch the air rises) changes and boing you drop. Ground efect is another killer till about 3 1/2 to 4 feet. if the ground dips so dose heli. Inside its morlikely to be shifts in power. Are you runing stock motor without heatsink? If so as the motor heats up it takes more amps to get the same power out of the motor. lastly look every last inch over and tighten all screws, check linkages, and conferm that all parts are stup right. Do this befor and after every flight. Trust me parts come loose. I know this better then some I have an old old harley. befor and after every ride i check. This aplys to planes and helis too. must work to have fun ![]()

| Re: Blade cp, drops during hover Thanks guys for the tips, I talked to the heli expert where I bought the thing and he told me to file the teeth off the controller to smooth out the power and then adjust the blades to a more positive attitude. These and a little practice with the new heli seemed to have taken care of the problem. I am now flying outside at sunrise and sunset when there is very little or no wind and having a wonderfull time with it. I have found the affects you mentioned with the wind(breeze) affects and found with a little caution as you suggested I have been able to avoid any mishapes. Thanks for the ideas and happy flying. | Re: Blade cp, drops during hover I have found that instead of filing the notches down a beterway to get more controll of the throtle is to open your tx and pull off the springtab, bend it slightly down so it fits tighter. (WARNING TOO MUCH OF A BEND AND YOU CHANCE DAMEGING THE TX) This will make for more accurate control. I have done this on all my tx's and it makes a big differance. Yes when you file down the notches it feels smooth but the stick moves too easy. I found with fixed wings that a stiffer stick makes throtle changes more accurate. and when you get into airobatics thats varry important. And once I tightend the stick on my helis, flight and landing got alot easyer. Ok well I think thats enough on that, maybe too much but oh well. happy flying. and hopes for fewer and softer crashes.
