Question engine problems after crash, anyone else??

I bought my heli used. Before I had 10 mins of flying I crashed it. I never could get it run that well from then..

I installed a new motor, it seemed to run very well, I turned around and crashed it again.

Well as before I just can't get it to run that well.
I have a very dark burned muffler and I have eatten several glow plugs.
It seems to be running to hot, I have it turned down as much as I can while still keeping it running, also it puts out a lot of smoke..
It does fly and isn't so bad I can't fly it.. I have run several gallons though it.

It just run crappy...

My question, has anyone else noticed that they have problems getting it to run well after a crash?
I could understand the motor might never be right after stopping it instantly while its screaming a 100's of RPMS....

Any comments anyone??
Thanks!

Re: engine problems after crash, anyone else??

I had similar problems with my OS engine after a big crash. I notice that the cylinder head had become loose after the impact. You might want to look at the head and make sure that its secure. I used some loc-tite to secure the bolts to engine. Sometimes bolts become loose with the constant vibration from the RC helicopter and of course, a crash.

Also, make sure you inspect the engine for any hairline cracks. The cracks will also make your engine act a little funny.

Check your exhaust for loose baffles or obstructions.
Give the carby a good clean out.
If its a ringed engine id check for a busted ring.
