How to get at the glow plug (Shuttle) This is probably one that Colin can answer easily as he's a Shuttle owner. I've a Hirobo Shuttle Z-TS with, I think, an Irvine .36 engine in it. (I couldn't see any "Irvine" or "OS" markings on the engine, but from memory it's an Irvine). Those of you who are familiar with this craft, the glow-plug is pointing towards the fuel tank - and there's not much of a gap at all. I've very slender fingers and it takes much fiddling to put the thing in and take it out (intial looseing / final tightening done with a 90deg socket - I don't think a rachet would even fit in there). Any tips on how you get in this awkward place more easily?

yes, you're right. Right up my alley. In the past, I used a clip that easily clips directly to the glow plug, which you just access from underneath the shuttle. But I still found it troublesome, so I went out and bought myself a glow plug extender. It's basically a pair of croc-clips which ends in a glow-plug like connector that you can screw it anywhere on the shuttle frame. The croc-clips are clipped onto the actual glow plug. I'll take some photos and show post them up here later. |

Oh, and here's the wrench I use to take out and put back the glow plug. I usually just loosen it a little, and then use my fingers to twist it off. To put it back, I use my fingers again to screw it back in, until it cannot move, then I use the wrench to tighten it in.

Here's my pic Hi, I've a similar extension too to my glow-plug. Looks like it's a standard things to do: fingers to remove and insert the fiddly thing.

not too clear That picture wasn't too clear - the glow-plug extension appears just below where the fuel-line goes back into the main body to feed the engine.
