Power problem with Space baron 30

Hi, I am only into this by a couple of months and am just getting to the stage of flying at altitude and in different directions, however now to the problem, i am now applying more power and even at full power there is no rev increase in the engine above half stick. She climbs but slowley and if you are dropping steady and apply full stick it struggles to switch direction which is a bit worrying when the ground is approaching fast. The engine is a OS30 and pitch range is -3 to +9 and fuel is 10% nitro and the carb opens fully. High speed carb adjusts have been tried. I need help please. I have a video of my last flight which might help please ask to see if interested.

Thanks

Clive

High clive, Welcome to the forum.

I have had some talks with fellow heli flyers about this problem and they seem to think that you either have a fuel problem or air leek in the fuel line, One did sugest that your engine was not getting enough air
Things to look for are cracks in the fuel pipe buy the tank, carb or near your filter. Check that your filter is clean and that it is flowing ok. check the fuel pipe that runs from your muffler/pipe to the tank, A leak here would drop the amount of flow preasure to your carb. Check that your carb is clear when in the heli.
If all this looks good then check that your needle settings are at factory settings and you can re,tune from there. Make a note of your current settings first.
The way to do this is to shut the throttle completely (Sorry if you know this already) then count how many full turns it takes to close the main needle. If you want to be more accurate count the clicks and make a note. Then count how many turns it takes to shut the low end neelde. for the OS I beleive the settings are 3 turns main and 2 turns on the throttle arm adjustment/Low end.
These should be on the advice leaflet that comes with your engine.

The engine will start and then you can make your adjustments from there. Let me know how you get on.
It would be better if you could let me know your Needle settings in turns,(not clicks) then I would have a better mental picture of where your at.
I hope this helps.
If not we can Keep trying.

Regards
Darren

1 other thing to check is that the rubber O ring that sits in the carb is seated properly. This also leads to tuning problems when out of place.

Hi Clive

With your main needle set to 11/4 full turns it is also possible that your engine is running lean. This in turn would make it run hotter and hotter thus giveing you a performance drop and then cutting out.
you should always have a good supply of smoke from the exhaust. It is best to run these engines slightly rich to provide good lubrication.

Just a thought.
