| Been RCing since 1978. Just got into heli's as of my retirement this year. Was given a gift certifacate to local hobby shop and picked up a Blade CX. After learning the basics and having fun with the CX, I decided to upgrade. Wanted to get the most "heli" for the least amount of outlay. Purchased the Walkera 36(1800mah lipo, brushless 180, and belt drive tail). Installed the training gear for damage control. A Smart Move !!! First few powerups were spent trimming and getting a feel for the control inputs while light on the skids. Big difference from the Blade CX. Being a "Newbie" to heli's I've got a lot to learn. You don't get a lot of info from Walkera in the product Manual. One of the first problems I need help with is Main Gear slipping. When powering up I get intermitant engagement to the main rotor blades. Is there an adjustment that needs to be done? I don't have any experience yet in the dissassembly of heli's. I'm sure that is going to change! Thanks for any advice. |

| Re: 1st post---"Salute" all Helifever pilots Hi Khook Welcome to the forum. I hope you like it here ![]() The maingear slipping in the way you describe could be down to 3 things. 1. There is a broken tooth or teeth on the maingear. 2. The bottom jesus bolt is missing (I hope this isnt the case) 3. Most likely, the motor needs pushed back into proper engagement with the maingear. If you look at where the motor is mounted, you should see 2 screws in the frame, you might have a bit of a search to see them. If possible loosen them up slightly and give the motor a push towards the maingear.. It should bump up slightly. Retighten and retry. It should be better. I dont have a walkera so I cant say for sure but Id be willing to bet that the screws are there. Hope this helps... Azzy

| Re: 1st post---"Salute" all Helifever pilots Welcom khook, Azzy is correct, there are two mounting screws on the motor that are visable next to the pinion gear behind the front mounted servos. Adjust the motor as he described, also sometimes the oneway bearing can slip inside the main gear or possibly the bearing itself is slipping. I hope it is the motor mount as the other things require you to split the frame to get to them! Post back if you need more help, Huey

| Re: 1st post---"Salute" all Helifever pilots Welcome to the hobby, rc helis have fascinated me for a long time....been flying about 2 and a half yrs now....and no....theres no cure ![]() I just got myself a small CP type heli...called a MiniPredator...its a Falcon3D in the USA. I am impressed with it....it currently broken after me pushing my luck a bit too far....but its only costing 20 quid to fix it...not bad. I might sell it and get a TRex, For the problem you have,,,,try this....get a cigarrete rolling paper...cut a strip....feed this in between the motor pinion and main cog teeth....force the motor in...not too tight but firm...and tighten the screws....move the cog and feed the paper out....the meshing will be about right then. Cogs do not need to be tightly meshed....whether lubed or not...on that note...never add any grease to rc heli main cogs...they dont need it...it just attracts dust/dirt...which will wear things out. Rob PS from what I have seen...this site is very very good at catering for small electric helis. |
