Setup sequence

Hi All,

What is the correct setup sequence?

Gyro, ESC, Servo's or some other sequence? I just dont want to go through my first setup and realise I set something in the wrong order.

Thanks,
Barry

Re: Setup sequence

Hi Barry,

I think you mean during the build, what order does stuff get set up. I'll give you an answer based on that (although I may be wrong about your question lol).

In general terms the way I do it (and its fresh in my mind cos Ive just done it.) is remove the horns from the servos and plug into the reciever. Turn on the tx and the RX and get all the servos centred (make sure trims and subtrims are at neutral).
Then shut it all down and fit the horns. Do the mechanical setup. ie. linkages to the right places, swash level ect. Then I would roughly set up the gyro since it has a linkage. Then Id program the speed controller (first making sure that either the motor was out the heli or the blades were off and I was standing back for the initial switch on just in case something scary happens). I dont think there is a right order to set up a model but the gyro is a fairly fiddly process which will involve setting it up, checking it on the ground then flying it and adjusting it again. This is partly why an experienced pilot should test fly the model because a wrongly set up gyro will create a big problem for a novice (think instant piro as soon as it leaves the gound or no tail control ect.)

Hope this helps.... Azzy

Re: Setup sequence

Hi Again Barry,

Yep, lol. I did this on my first ever attempt at setting a heli up lol. You know the story, heli starts to spin, gyro notices and puts in correction but instead of it making it better, it makes it worse, so it trys to correct by putting more correction in which makes it worse still, result heli does a fair impersonation of the tasmanian devil and the gyro doesnt know why because its putting in the correction. If your careful and steady on spin up you can usually see this before she actually leaves the ground and you can shut down again to fix it.

If you need to know how to check the sense.. Feel free to post back

Take care... Azzy
