set up question on tx

hi, i've just installed new radio gear in my heli, its a rtf 3d machine and the standard radio was poor, i've installed the spectrum dx6 park flyer, i've managed to get through most of the settings to get my heli to fly (hover) very nice with it fitted but i dont understand the giro settings, the heli has a headlock giro fitted witch could be turned to non head lock on the old tx and the gain knob is fitted to the giro, that i could understand but with the new tx i can alter the sub trim the travel adj and other things that i'm tottally lost with, when i 1st treid to hover the heli it had big tale shake so i turned down the sub and travel for giro (gear) and its worked but i dont no how to turn on the head lock giro! have i gotta do some mixing function in the sub menue;s because its deffenatley not on heading hold and where should i set the knob to on the giro gain itself seeing as though the transmitter has the gain functions, these are probably stupid and imposible questions to answer on line to a newbe but nothing asked nothing gained.

Re: set up question on tx

The GY401 changes mode according to the amount of input. From 0 to 50% is normal mode and 50% to 100% is head lock mode. Actually there is a 'dead zone' in the neighborhood (+-10%) of 50%. The gain increases in the head lock mode as you go from 50% to 100%. The gain increases in the normal mode as you go from 50% down to 0%.

But anyway, what gyro are you using?

Re: set up question on tx

hi chaos the gyro u wont of heard of, its out a rtf machine by art tech mines the mini pred but its also the same as there falcon, all i can say is it worked fine with the old tx either in normal mode or headlock and to switch between the two there was a switch on the tx with norm and mix, it works fine now but its not on heading hold, the guy at the shop said try reversing chanel 5 on the new tx but all that did was make the heli spin, i've treid increasing the gainlike u sugested on your giro but thats not it either.

Re: set up question on tx

I'm just guessing that maybe adjusting the endpoints on ch #6 might do the trick. Take note of the current settings then experiment with different values.

Re: set up question on tx

chaos and any one else that might wont to no, i've finally solved the mistery of my non head lock head lock gyro, its sort of wot u told me in the 1st place chaos but the thing that was confusing me was being able to alter the gain from the tx as well as the gyro having a gain adjust on it, i turned the dial on the gyro itself down as low as it could go and hey presto, full controll and head lok mode from my new tx, mint.

Thanks for the update. That would confuse me too. I guess it's that way in case the gyro isn't hooked up to a channel of its own.... but I donno.
