| Has the price of aluminum gone up? Just had my first boom strike, yipeee! This now qualifies me to join the "pay $16.00 an ounce for aluminum club"! Now I just need to learn the secret handshake and get the decoder ring. Seriously, $16.00 for a new tail boom. Anybody know of any reason why I could not buy a stick of aluminum tubing and make one myself. It is just a 12" piece of tubing with a small hole in one end for the tail motor mount. I will have no trouble fabricating one I am just curious if anyone has any compelling reasons why a factory boom would be the best way to go? |

| Re: Has the price of aluminum gone up? the answer to your question is yes, the price has gone up on nearly all metals, especially copper, nickel and steel. So much so that the Fed has made it a crime to melt down pennies and nickels for the metal value as they are now worth more as raw metal than the face value of the coins. To get away from this a little bit, visit your local archery shop. An aluminum arrow shaft can almost always be had in the appropriate diameter for your machine. Bonus: you can get virtually any color you want. Naturally, you'll have to cut to length and do some drilling.
