Fuel Filter

Hi people,
Just got my heli up and running - not flown yet - I am going tomorrow!!
Anyhow, when picking up my fuel from my shop, under their advice I bought a fuel filter. I have a TT Raptor 30 running an OS 32. I'm not too sure how to fit the filter - the instruction manual suggests placing the filter in between the fuel tank and the carberetor. There is an arrow on my fuel filter as well. Do I need to buy some more tubing or can I just cut off a little bit from the existing tubing and use that on the other end?
Does it matter where the fuel filter goes and do I need to secure it once installed?
Any help appreciated.
Sunil

i just cut the pipe in the middle, chopped out a little section to make up for the extra length of the filter and then used the filter to join the two parts together. The direction of the arrow doesn't affect the performance of the filter, but will allow you to clean the filter when it gets coked up.

good luck with your first flight, i did mine 10 days ago and it was so cool. Bad weather last weekend though, so no flying

Yep, what I did was to cut a short section off, and stick it in between. It works pretty well now but I might do what you did - cutting out some extra tubing. Thanks for your help, I've got it sorted now.
This site has been a real help when doing my research. I bought my heli about Easter time but due to work haven't flown it yet.
Hopefully over summer I can get fairly proficient.
I am hoping that tomorrow will be good weather - currently here it looks not so good.
What helicopter do you own arachnoid?
Thanks for you help.

i only cut the tubing off cos it ended up hanging down under the line of the fuselage and i reckoned it might get pulled apart by accident.

weather in hants looks real poor at the moment, intermittent rain and loads of wind.

i've got a raptor 50 with an OS 50

Christ! Similar weather here. I hope it picks up for tomorrow - I don't want to have to wait another week (I'm going away for a while!).
I think I'll leave the filter at that - its not too dangerous where it is currently - the tubing is just slightly longer.
