Reminder when using wooden blades

Hi Folks,

Don't forget to glue your blades before using them. A lot of incident happened already that the blade flew away and your heli will explode like a bomb if you don't glue wooden blades.

Hi Carlou

I think it is important to mention that when you glue your wooden blades you first cut the shrink wrap around the plastic blade roots. It is when you have removed the plastic film from the blade root that you then glue the blade roots in place. I would recommend useing epoxy glue for this as cyno is too brittle.
when you have glued the plastic blade roots inplace then you can balance your blades. They should then be ready for use.

Re: Reminder when using wooden blades

I have seen wooden blades being used...with no plastic grips at all being glued on....they were meant to be. If fitted they would have been too fat to fit the rotor head.....fortunately the heli flew badly so didnt get used much.....there was a general failure to appreciate the loads that these blades are put under.....it was downright dangerous.

Re: Reminder when using wooden blades

Seems as though if there where a company out there that wanted to "OUTFLANK" their competitors they would do this for you/us as I think it is an anal retentive pain to go through this every time I fly woodys after a new set is put on, as luck would have it it happened to me PEWAMMMM!! Shards of heli flying everywhere several damaged parts, wood blade came off at the grip, But I will opt for a blade that does not need this nucencicle operation in order to fly untill they can sell me a set that I do not have to over hall and re engineer , woodies are off my shopping list.

Re: Reminder when using wooden blades

I like plastics and carbon. Woods are nice n light but cant take the heat of heavy moves or a little oops. As for the fact im no pro yet I use plastics. Foamies are good but one oops and piff, blade gone. Fiberglass are nice but eek the cost, might as well fly carbon unless you need a heavy blade.
