E Flite Cp Blades

Well I bought the E flite blade cp, last summer. Ive learned to fly it pretty well.

It held up awesome, with my learning curve, and the many crashes Ive had with it.

The only thing I hate about it is how fragile the blades are.
I keep buying the balsa platic covered ones. If they barely touch the ground, the plastic cracks, and theyre junk! Or if I have a rough landing, and the blades hit the tail boom they dent, and maybe crack.
These blades are exspesive, at 15 bucks a pair.

I was thinking of buying the carbon fiber symetrical ones, used for stunts. But I have a question. I DONOT want to use them for stunts yet( Im not that good) I want to get them for more reliability. Are the blades worth the 25 bucks that they are? And do they last a lot longer than the wood blades? And do the make the Heli harder to fly?

Thanks Brian

Exclamation Re: E Flite Cp Blades

ur kicking out more than 25...
if ur getting carbon fiber blades from what i understand u need more power so youde need i think 2300 mAh? lipo batt and charger
im not sure but its worth it....but i dunno if u wanna risk ur tail boom since u say u hit it on rough landings all depends on ur skills

id do it only cause i feel your pain about the trash blades
mines are cracked and trash

Re: E Flite Cp Blades

hey brianroy6;
in the research ive done on the bcp you dont want to go over 1325 mah lipo batteries. 2300 may be a bit to heavy for this light little heli.
keep in mind that when you strengthen one part that breaks the next weaker part will break. upgrading to cf will give you more durable blades but something has to give when you bo have a boom strike or encounter a rough landing. if your just nicking the blades and want to keep from having to replace them every time i would say go cf but if the repacement of blades is due to hard crashes it might be cheeper to replace the 12.00 blades vs. the more expensive parts.
if you are going to put sem.cf blades on the cp, you will need to upgrade the main motor as well as go to lipo batteries.+ add heat sinks to bolth the motors due to the incease in heat they will produce.
just my 2bits, hope it helps- GASMECH

Re: E Flite Cp Blades

I just bought some symetrical blades from helidirect.com for $8 each. I put a set on my blade this evening and it flew very smooth. this is half the cost of blades at my lhs.

Re: E Flite Cp Blades

HeliDirect has some great prices on blades. A good company IMHO.

CF blades are very durable, but when they break, well, their broke. Ain't much you can do to fix them. If your still breaking that many blades then you may want to consider the plastic ones. See thread: http://www.helifever.com/forums/2174...-blades-cp-2-a

Also, some of the folks here have taken to repairing the woodies using PlastiKote. Another uses contact paper. I forget where I saw the thread but I think it's under Electric Heli's. Prolly within the last couple of weeks.

I'm still breaking everything but I just can't help myself, this is too much fun!

Re: E Flite Cp Blades

Hey brianroy6 I am new to flying and just keep crashing. I just picked up some new blades from the hobby store and there made out of plastic. I havent had time to fly with them yet, but looking at their website they are pretty impressive. www.JCSHobbies.com. It showes a blade hitting a tree stump and the blades are fine. The wooden ones would have been destroyed. They also are supposed to be easyer for beginners because the stick movement isn't so fine, due to the weight of them. Check it out and I will post later on this week how they really preformed. Best of all they only cost 20.

Are the blades Semeritical for inverted flight?

Re: E Flite Cp Blades

The plastic blades are not symetrical, and the ones I got seem to be unbalanced. I havent taken the time to balance them and just don't use them much. I recently bought a pair of cf blades for my blade and have had several minor mishapes with no damage to them at all.
