Re: Safety First

Tell me you are kidding

Quote:
i advise you to keep al helis at least 5 feet away. Depending on how reliable your helicopter is, you might want to put if farther.
1....If you have an unreliable heli it should not be flying Period
2... try at least 20 feet preferably further

now tell me again how your sister got hurt I personally think that it was too close to both of you

Quote:
heli just had a malfunction during flight.
Hence the reason for keeping them away from not only yourself but other people

Glad to see she Survived next time she may not

Re: Safety First

Good comment!
When I started flying the real thing after the simulator I practiced flying by myself and only my wife was with me a few times. As I got better I invited some out but had to cut short my flights because of situations. Anyone who was with me are told to stay behind me and keep their mouth's shut.
Especially non flyers. Anyone entering my peripheral vision, I will bring the copter down to a "Safe Hover" then land, when safe takeoff.
Test flights and troubleshooting be done without spectators or lookie lou's! in case something goes wrong.
I know we all know these basic safety rules but how many times do we forget, thinking we know it all...
If anyone truely doesn't know them then don't fly till you do. That goes for in the house too!
If anyone is not part of a club then you need to be. We flyers have anough problems without someone causing an incident and grounding everyone because of their errors.

Re: Safety First

i agree with jahatton no spectators unless your a good pilot. i only fly with my wife and she always stays behind me and aware of my flying

everyone should me a member to AMA for $59yr it's not a bad investment if you follow their rules it gives you insurance. and model aviation magazine for one year. also if you go to the local club you cannot fly unless you have it.

Re: Safety First

Hi, when I landed the Raven after making 29 flights this month I confess I almost had a fatality too. When I was packing up a woman I knew (who has some mental problems) saw me and said "Hi Jim, is that your TOY helicopter?"
I almost turned into the Incredible Hulk and I would be sharing this from behind bars! If there is anything I hate most is hearing that!. Luckly I had my hands full with a flight box and the heli.
