**In-Flight Mind Glitches** Hi, making it a point to get 2 flights in before noon every good day.. Since I had a close call the other day I find if I get just the little bit up tight with some aspect of a flight, it's better to terminate the excersize and go into hover mode and back into the comfort zone. It's not worth it to continue and end up creating a disaster.. This morning I got the helicopter up and away and before I knew it it was way up there... that wasn't so bad but it can spell disaster.. Still feel uncomfortable with heli facing me with the right side to me.. I hope with more practice it will get settled. Came home in one piece ready for another day. Jim ![]()

Re: **In-Flight Mind Glitches** i must agree its nice to come home with your model in 1 peice than a bag of bits i need to think about what iam doing before i make a move on the sticks. i panicked recently and it has cost me - not too much but if i had thought about it, i wouldnt be waiting for parts ![]()

Hi Dubz, do you have a R/C simulator?, it's the cheap way to gain confidence though with the real you don't have a space bar to do the repairs for you Do you have any experience with fixed wing models? This will also help with forward flight. As the saying goes "Practise Makes Perfect" and before you know it everything about heli's becomes second nature. Another sugestion when ordering parts is to order 2 of everything so there is no lag between dumps. The time not in the air add's to the fear factor. Jim

| Re: **In-Flight Mind Glitches** Very true....sim time is ok for what it is...real flying is different again....in the back of my mind is that if I crash it could be expensive....and time wasting waiting for parts. If buying a new heli, consider the parts backup...and the expense....my last crunch almost made me pack the hobby in...I was that pissed off...thought about getting into rc yachts or something instead. | I feel that a good flight sim saves alot of time and money. My first time going nose in cost me £75 about $130 so after getting a sim spent about five hours crashing trying to go nose in then it started to last longer before i crashed , then i was not crashing, the next time i went nose in on the flight line for real I did and it was a great feeling. All my first time are now on the sim first and when i can do it well on the sim i go for it for real. now i chase the planes round at my club and as i have a raptor 90 most of the planes are too slow, stall turns at each end of the run 540's rolls and loops nose in take off and landing. but on the sim i cut grass inverted nose in, tail in sideways to the left low level flips. one at at time they will come to the flight line and i should not crash so quick. get a sim i will help you alot. |

Very Good! I learned a deception that happens in the brain when hovering tail in your mind does it automaticlly.. correct? When facing nose in are the finger movements different? No. The problem is seperating visual from programmed to hard disc. It's mind over matter sort of. Before you fly again do me a great favor! Locktite the steel balls to the swash plate!!!!!! I had a disaster happen which the long pushrod linking the swash plate to the rotor blade came off while over unfriendly ground from 30 foot hover. It is one of those mishaps that no one needs. They were put in at the factory and I check them with an allan driver and they were real tite. The damage is around $294.00 USD so it comes out to be the most expensive crash I had to date. The crash came after having the video camera underneath ($1000. MDV) The camera setup is a little heavy and the heli takes quite a bit to pull out of a decent. I landed and took the camera off and flew then landed, took on fuel and flew again when it happened. I am taking a sabbatical for a little while and gearing up to fly the GP Yak 54 25%. Jim

Already have it, I learned to fly with the G2. The computer is also setup with the sim on a 27inch flat screen TV. I learned early in life that if I start having problems with using something, the best thing to do is to drop it and take it up later the better I will grasp it. The heli is not the Titanic! I made a statement to myself after installing carbon glass blades that I will fly for years without a scratch! I don't fly radically but enjoy taking pictures and video's. Even the folks with a lifetime of experience losses a chopper for no obvious reason. "Part of life" Jim
