Re: Lithium Polymer cells. Whats the big deal?

I got the E-sky Belt cp and when I did the initial charge it took more than 120 minutes noted in the document to charge - does the light stop flashing completely when its completely charged?

Cool Re: Lithium Polymer cells. Whats the big deal?

I believe it stops flashing red and turns green how you know. my honey bee king is by esky if you look I would bet they are the same charger if not battery. I bet your asking because it seem to never stop chargeing your right it dosent. I have never seen one took that long. but it dose remember this is double the size of lithium ion batteries so we kinda have to expect it.

I have two esky lipo chargers that look the same but their different. Read the procedures carefully on the charger.

well guys i can settle the thing about how dangerious the lopos are keep in mind that these were done on purpose. but it gives you a good idea of how destructive these are.. go to youtube .com and put in lipo sack. its a bag designed to stop damage from lipos lighting up its down right scary.. To see what they could do to the room we keep out helis in ie wife cloths closet. hehe

Re: Lithium Polymer cells. Whats the big deal?

My opinion on this is if you don't want to take the precautions to correctly handle and use lipos then don't get into electric helis. Your just fooling yourself if you think that anything else can even come close to the performance of them.
I assume from some of the comments that Nitro and alcohol is somehow safe and nonflammable?
Good luck with that!

Re: Lithium Polymer cells. Whats the big deal?

don't get me wrong I think ill come to love them for performance. but it makes me consider better ways to more careful and protect them. its not to say there bad just need to be respected for what they are. I mean lift off speed for the main rotor on a typical heli is 250 mph getting hit upside the head by that isint really safe eather. but it simply reminds us to respect our favorite play pretties

Re: Lithium Polymer cells. Whats the big deal?

back to your original question

"battery temp getting above 70 degrees.. "

this is what i got in my thunder power instructions

"Charge: 32 to 113 degrees F
Discharge: 32 to 140 degrees F"

lipo's just need respect
1 dont leave them in the window of the car on a hot day if they get over 170*F they will explode
2 make sure the C rating of your battery is higher than your motor draws in amps.
3 Always be sure you use good charger and that you always charge at the right cell count. if you charge a 2 cell pack on 3 cell rate it will explode. a good charger will stop charging before it blows.
4 Never short a fully charged pack.
5 Hard crash let pack set 15 minutes outside
