How do I charge an eSky battery?

I just got an esky 11.1v 1000mAh 3-cell Li-Po battery, plus an Esky charger. I don't have an esky heli, I've got a Dragonfly 4, but the stock battery was crap. How do I charge my new battery? Does it automatically stop charging once full? or do I need to set a timer so that it doesn't overcharge?

Re: How do I charge an eSky battery?

The cheap budget chargers can take up to 3 hrs or so to complete.

If there are two LEDS (one red...one green) then if the red is on the charger is charging...when the green comes on and the red goes out the charge is complete.

IF you get a rubbish charger like I had once...there are no LEDS at all...so figure for three hours.

Yes there are two types...one charge system plugs into the main battery leads....the smaller plug with the small wires plugs into a balance charger...which is meant to be better for Li Pos.

Be careful with these batterys...any batterys in fact..charge where you can keep an eye on the thing....and try to use a fireproof surface...if things go wrong LiPos can get very nasty...so be careful.

Re: How do I charge an eSky battery?

I have two type's. Both are from Esky and both are model # EK2-0851 made for the 2&3 cell 7.4v&11.1v Lipo batts, but the lights indications are different (through me for a loop).

Charger #1
1.Green light flashing: battery charging
2.Constant green light: Charging complete

Charger#2
1. Red & green light: battery charging
2. Red light: Charging complete

Re: How do I charge an eSky battery?

Thanks guys, you've all been a great help. My charger is an EK2-0851 with a red and green LED. When it indicates that the charging is finished, does it continue to pump power into the batter or does it cut off? ie could I leave it charging over night without having to disconnect the battery once finished?

Yes you can leave it alone, its automatic so wont keep charging...but do place the battery on something fireproof...and where it cant set light to anything nearby..This is VERY important...any batterys being charged need respect like this...

Let me know how your Dragonfly 4 does with a 11.1v battery, did it come with a 8.4 nicad? I have a esky 004 (same as the Dragonfly 4) and it came with a 8.4v nicad and it was awful! So I started using a 7.4v lipo and it works great!
