I have two transmeters, both 4 channel, Futaba compatible. I am a newbie at r/c heli. I am setting up a Colco Thunder Bird, and I need know which mode is best for helis, mode1 or mode 2? Is having the throttle on the left stick or on the right stick?Thank you. ![]() |

| Actually, this is a good discussion topic. I stay in Asia, and it seems that most shops here carry Mode 1. In fact, most flyers I know use mode 1. The weird thing about Mode 1 is that the Throttle and the Ailerons are on the right, and the Rudder/Elevators on the Left. On a Heli, this means that the Cyclic is actually split into 2 sticks. ie: you roll cyclic forward and back using the Left Stick, but roll Cyclic Left/Right using the Right Stick. Left Stick left/right movements will yaw the heli. For me, this is totally unnatural and therefore, I fly Mode 3. Mode 3 is actually Mode 2 with the sticks switch, ie: Throttle/Rudder on right stick, and Cyclic on Left stick. Why don't I use Mode 2 ? Can't find any shops here selling Mode 2 radios. |
