Question Pitch to throttle setting

Hello,

I would appreciate anybody's help on the setting of the throttle and pitch curve.
Just strated with the shuttle plus and I am using a MULT?PLEX 3030 for the radio. The manuel of the shuttle explains curves according to settings for a futaba radio.

I am trying to find out the pitch range that I should set and how much should the throttle be oppened accordind to the pitch.

Thanks for your time.

Sarp.

http://www.helifever.com/intro/radiosetup.cfm

gives some good info. It's worth reading as much as you can on the helifever site, it won't tell you how to setup YOUR radio if that's what you are asking, that's what the manual is for, but it does explain what you are trying to achieve with pitch and throttle curves.

Once you've got it setup (as you think it should be) have someone who has some experience take a look at it and preferably give it a test hover.

I'm no expert, having only set up my machine once, but here is how i set it up:

Use a pitch meter to set the pitch at 1/2 stick to 5 degrees.
Set bottom stick to -3 and top to 11

Set up a straight line throttle curve so that the motor idles at bottom stick. Set throttle cut to 0 throttle so that the engine cuts when it is pressed.

Slowly increase the power until the heli lifts off the ground. You need to know at what point on the left stick the heli starts to lift. If this is way above the mid stick point you need more throttle at 1/2 stick, if its way below you need less.

I don't know your radio, but mine has a hovering throttle and pitch trim switch to do the adjustments without having to go through the menus, this makes it a lot quicker. DO NOT change trim while the heli is in the air. Land, reduce throttle to idle, trim takeoff, repeat until you're happy

hope this makes sense

Russ

PS I'm wearing flameproof underwear if the 3/4 stick hover brigade want to join in.
