XP-783 Mystery

Hello watersteps here,
I recently received an XP-738 radio by JR, it powers up and looks great. I have a complete manual and charger. Now the mystery, I went on line and checked with JR and Horizon Hobby and they have no info about this radio or do they even list it as dis-continued. What's up ? is it too old or was it a black sheep to the JR company? When I checked with a couple forums I find that there are a lot 738's out there and in use. Should scrap this thing or sell it or keep and use it?

Depends on what you fly...if its a small electric heli then you might be ok....if its used for a larger electric heli or a nitro powered heli I wouldnt use it...seems very strange that the company doesnt know this type of radio...very odd that.

Re: XP-783 Mystery

Hi Hawkman, I don't understand why the company does not even list their machine!! This radio came with a TSK MyStar 30 (nitro), maybe I'll use it with a T-Rex I have.

Thanks for the input, watersteps

The XP 783 is a 388s in disguise. It is a great radio. Better than the X-347 radio. The radio was dicontinued do to lack in sales. You can make it a 388s buy activating the 8 channel and ccpm. You can do it youself. I have 2 radios. I like it better than my X-347. All JR radios are good.

Re: XP-783 Mystery

Thank you mbbaj, are there instructions somewhere that I can download? I have the manual but I did not see anything about an 8 channel.
Again thank you very much, I have a new Futaba, two Walkera, and this JR radio.

Re: XP-783 Mystery

Thats the mystery. You can send it in to JR and have is activated for FREE when you have the lith battery replaced or do it yourself. There are instructions on RR on how to do it. Better to have it done when the lith batter is replaced or you will have to keep reseting it if the battery is bad.
The mystery is solved You can NOW have a 883 radio. The radio manual dosen't tell you anythig about a upgrade.
