Question JR Radio batteries- change

Hi to all i have just decided to get back in to the Helli's and i have a Jr 7 Chanel transmitter that i bought 25 years ago it runs on nicads 9.6 volt and can you believe i charged it up the other day and it ran for 2.5 hours and still had some juice left in it any way my question is i want to change the pack can i use nmh batteries or should i stay with the nicads,any help would be greatly appreciated thank you regards helichoper.

yes you can change over to nmh battries
