Installing my GY401

The instructions for GY401 states that the gyro should be mounted at least 10cm from the motor of the helicopter. But the most logic place would be on the empty shelf right under the main shaft. (Hirobo Shuttle Plus). So I installed the gyro on the very front with my receiver and battery.

My question is.... I would like to move it back. But am not sure if this will cause the gyro to function erratically. Has anyone placed this gyro closer than 10cm of the motor.

Hirobo Shuttle Plus
Futaba 8UAFS
GY-401

I am new to the Helicopter arena. Have flown airplanes for 3 years.
